Description
This is an illustration I did years ago on the back cover of one of my Akiko comics in tribute to the illustrator of the original Winnie the Pooh books, E. H. Shepard. I inserted my characters Akiko and Gax into the scene but otherwise tried to remain very faithful to Shepard's amazing method of drawing trees and scenery.Related content

Ooh, I love this. I used to check your website every day for around two years after you visited my school in 5th grade, and I remember this being up there. I love how you did all those tribute pieces using their unique art styles; it seems like it would be difficult to pull off.

I like the fact that it says she wanted to invite him to tea but she was afraid he might rust. It made me laugh. This was beautifully drawn!

Awesome!
Also, at my school book fair yesterday, I found "Brody's Ghost" on display and under it, a pile of more copies. When I went back today I bought the book and spent all my lunch break drawing Talia and Brody!

Nice! I love the original Winnie the Pooh, much better than what I've seen of the Disney version.
This is quite good.
BTW, what are the Akiko comics?

I own a version of Now We Are Six published in the 1950s, and somewhere, I have a copy of When We Were Very Young. I was raised on those poems, and I never really saw the Disney version of Winnie the Pooh.
Also, wasn't there a new character just introduced a couple of years ago? Something like Lottie the Otter or something like that.

Akiko will some day be recognized as one of the classic all-time greats of graphic novels. Not to diminish Niki or Brody, but the originality in both the pictorial style and story telling of Akiko are unmatched. You will in the future see that book alongside classics like Herge's Tintin, Astro City, Bone, Akira, NausicaΓ€, Nemo, etc. etc.
Lovely tribute!

I love it! One of my classes is coming up on an emulation assignment, and I'm kind of dreading it... it's really hard to so faithfully mimic the style of such an accomplished artist!
