Description I have more tutorials in my Tutorials gallery folder! [link]

well blow me down, there's a shading category, Hyuk Hyuk...

Anyways, after watching millions of video tutorials on colouring with copics, 99.99999% of them are "how to colour skin", but they all show the same way.

I wanted to show you that with a little effort, you can have more interesting, or dynamic skin colouring. I didn't go deep into adding tons of colours and multiple light sources, but we gotta start somewhere right?
Next I might do different types of skin tones... or something. Send me some suggestions if you like... on my blog... [link]

I used Copic markers for this, but this would apply to any medium really...

Anyways, Whatever... I hope this is useful or something...

And as a side note: I don't mean the nose thing to be terribly offensive, only a wee bit. Enough to make you THINK about style choices before doing them, Okay?
If it upsets you, toughen up your hide a little, then keep doing what you do.

Thanks for the tutorial!

And I'm glad I'm not the only one disturbed by the dark noses. It's been driving me crazy for a long time now.

Or if they're alcoholics and the blood vessels in the nose get all inflamed... W.C. Fields, anyone?

Its a lovely tutorial, thanks! As far as the nose thing, I think its purely stylistic. In some cases it looks pretty decent, but in other cases I think it doesn't fit the work.

I've never been fond of that approach personally, mainly because it creates a big focal point, and I've never seen it well merged into a style where it doesn't stand out at the main attraction.

But like I said, I'm opinionated!

Thank youuuuuu <3

Its great to have an opinion about things since it defines better what you like and what you draw And you are absolutely right, it does draw attention to it. I have issues with other things in art, but mostly it floats around stylistic differences which just randomly pop up.

I still struggle with trying to figure out how my techniques/styles mesh and how they compare to others. I just think I'll never see my art the way anyone else does.

Thanks for the wonderful art and keep on keepin on <3

I have many issues
I like Unity, and non symmetry HAHA
For the most part I keep my opinion to myself, but I felt snarky today
I respect that different things in our lives draw us to different styles and likes, and Power to em, ya know? I'm sure plenty people hate how I colour too HAHA!

You're right, I don't think anyone will see your art how you see your own art.
We see the work and the struggle with each drawing and people only see the end product and what the result of those struggles were. That different perspective will have a different impact

Thanks for stoppin' by

They're pretty awesome. I don't only have Copics, but I have including the other brands. around 500 markers
The copics are my favourite now.

D: WOW!! So lucky~ =w= I only have copics at the moment, though i'd love to try some other brands just to see how they are too~ Though I love the blending ability copics have~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marker-Guru In reply to flarveon [2010-07-22 03:00:15 +0000 UTC]

They all have the basic blending ability, they're all alcohol based so they're compatible with each other.
Copics being refillable makes me like em more. I hate throwing out markers, so when my non copics dry out I'm not going to replace them with anything but copics.
Plus i like to mix new colours!

Thanks for this, reflected light source sounds interesting to play with. I love using my G000, B000, BV00 and RV00 as part of shadowing, especially the under the jaw and eyes.

Different types of skin tones would be an awesome tutorial, I've seen queries about it before and I've never tried so couldn't give an answer.

Oh ya! those are wonderful colours! I love all those pale colours and often slip them into my skin tones. my avata is a good example of that XD

Yes, I've been pondering on the other skin tones for a while, and i haven't seen any around so I guess thats my next adventure
