Oh nice, this is actually really helpful
I really appreciate the acknowledgment of different approaches to gesture drawing and emphasis on finding your own way of doing them

Of course,
though you look more at the model, but if you didn't look at the paper you'd be all over the place.

ah i love gesture-drawing. i find it is so much less stressful to spend 30 seconds quickly sketching out the figure, because you don't have any time to worry about the anatomy I sketch really messy though, and it doesn't help that I hold my pencil weirdly (it smudges my drawings!)

I agree! i love it! theres no better way to learn anatomy without trying too hard too! the relaxed drawing makes it so much easier to absorb complex information visually

hey one question is it nesesary to make gestures of every posible pose to learn to draw from the mind or just some poses

well, you start to do the gestures as instinct after you get enough practice. everything has a gesture, from a human body to a blade of grass.
so in regards to your other question, yes the head poses should have a gesture as well. generally the centre line of the face, but thats quite a generalization

Great tut, you are right in that gesture 'capturing' is the no1. thing to learn I found that the Glenn Vilppu method of gesture drawing is the most useful & efficient style, i also find it to be elegant and the most 'fulfilling' as a learning/drawing experience. It's discussed in his Drawing manual and DVD:s. Highly recommended

I find the first one to be the most like what I would think I do for gestures...
Then again... sometimes my gestures are stick people! *blush*
