This is one of the clearest tutorials I have seen. Also, now that you mention it, I am surprised most people never thought about putting a drawing on paper against a lighting and looking at it from the back. As far as I've known, I was the only one who tried that but not other art students I study with where I live. It really helps.

I was also surprised with how few people actually flip the images over too. I especially love it when you cant quite figure out whats not looking right, then you flip it over and its crystal clear.

Thanks so much for your tutorials. I like the organic way you draw rather than stiff, straight, structured way that many people do.
I also love your straightforward, to-the-point descriptions like "I've filled out her bum"

Thanks

by the way, i saw someone mentioned anything about plumb line thing. are those horizontal and vertical lines
on the duck and canine some of them?

I've read a good book about how to draw figures and stuff and it mentioned plumb line thing.
I don't get it since English isn't my primary language. xD

i did however, used those horizontal and vertical measuring long before i read any HTD book.
though measured them by feeling, not pencil. Its an awesome method for photorealistic referenced
pencil drawing.(for checking proportion and emplacement of specific figure's landmarks)

Yes, those are plumb lines :> I tend to avoid using "official" terms in my tutorials because there will always be a different definition based on a persons education, but these are yes, plumb lines :>

Thanks for all the wonderful tutorials you have taken the time to make, they all had very useful information on them for me that I will try to remember and use. I found this one the most useful out of the ones I read, really good information, and they were all amusing to read at the same time

Nice tutorial, I'm surprised this hasn't gotten a DD! This is some great info. I had forgotten several things from my life drawing class, and you just helped me remember.

Ooh, I never actually thought of it that way, that positive space can be a little too much, and that it may just be easier to look at negative space! Thanks >.<

This is stuff every artist should learn, but few ever do. I suppose I wish I'd spotted and used this earlier... would've saved me some moneys

This is pretty cool. I like the concept of using the negative space to draw the shapes (of the hand in this instance), I'd never thought of that before.

I always had trouble in class making negative space work. And sometimes the teacher would praise me for shapes I didn't even realize I had done because I never look at the outside part but only what I had drawn inside.

I love the step by step of your gesture process. It was a great review of all the basics people might not know. So simply really, but so dern helpful! It's amazing how doing gesture first can help you to get more of an energetic flow to most things instead of starting right off with the filled out figure.
