Description Mandelbulb 3D v1.8.9: www.fractalforums.com/index.ph…

DEcombinate in InvMax mode using: transform2IFS/cylinderIFS/trans-qIFS/tilingbrickIFS/Menger3

In the remarkable series of 'Culture' SF novels by the late lamented Iain M. Banks, he wrote lovingly about his 'General Systems Vehicles', or GSV's. These gargantuan, self-aware starships were literally miles in length, and were so vast that they contained bays in various locations, where smaller ships could be constructed!
This fractal image shows my imagining of a construction area on the top deck of a GSV.

(And yes, this is just 'around the corner' from my previous 'Umbilicus'!) See:

Sad news indeed Tony - his 'Culture' novels were certainly unique in SF literature.
Thanks.

Outstanding design skills and very good perspective, much more when we consider how tricky this program is. You really understand its fundamentals!

Thanks very much Sergio! I'm actually fighting my way through a rather
intractable one at this very moment, but there can only be one winner....

Very welcome!
Yesterday introduced the formulas just to see what could happen. Of course, I got an error with columnsdIFS, but then eliminated it and the program kept on telling me the remaining formulas were invalid. Must be missing something here.
Best of lucks with your intractable one, I'm sure you'll twist its neck!

A wee tip about using dIFS and escapetime formulae in DEcombinates Sergio:
you have to let M3D know which formula to start at. In this case it's the Menger3
(escapetime) - in the number 5 slot - component, therefore use the small selector
at the top right of the formulas panel to select 5. That should do it....

Also, dIFS only require around 10 iterations, so change the amount in 'Maxits Hybrid
part1' to 10-20.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this. Very kind of you!
I actually confused a formula by , but applies the same to yours. When I got to Menger3 I thought, this won't work
I'll get back to the formulae combination trying to follow your tip. Struggling to play on the major MB3D leagues is no mean task indeed.

I really enjoy works like this. The looseness, juxtaposition of different elements, the light and perspective. The mood is so whimsical, comforting grand but somehow intimate. Great Job not only with this piece but all your work.
