The days on patrol in deep space grow long when there is nothing to report. For weeks on end, the only updates to command might be nothing but stellar readings in regular intervals, shaken up only by intermittent personal logs by some of the more diligent crew. At such times, every distraction is a welcome one, and so many crews out on patrol embrace the curious side of human nature, investigating whatever little anomalies there are to be found. While, for the most part, this is little more than idle routine runs on instruments, every so often, something truly remarkable shows up by chance.
In this way, veterans of the fleet like to assert, that many more humble patrolling corvettes, rather than fancy scientific exploration vessels, have come to make breakthrough discoveries. While the truth of this assertion is certainly debatable, there is no doubt that every ship on the new frontier of Hellespont kept its own record and book of theories regarding the strange and unknown domain of the KIDDIM. In this case, all discoveries would be made by patrols for sure, as the authorities of HELLESPONT had long suspended any civilian exploratory activity. Too many civilian ships had gone mysteriously gone missing.
