Description
This is the cosplay that I entered in the first ever Ottawa Comic Con Masquerade. I went as the Pyro from Team Fortress 2. It was my first time entering a Masquerade and I was very happy with how it went. I met some great people and I had a lot of fun.I won: Best in Class (Novice) and Best Props (Novice).

All you need now is the russian Rocketeer, the sub 0 suit, the mannmelter and the powerjack to be the perfect pyro XD

I would love to make a Pyro costume, but I don't know the items I would need.
I would also like to find someone who sells TF2 costumes, but so far I haven't seen anyone who has.
Could you help me out? Like, tell me what you would need to make one or someone who makes Pyro costumes and sells them?
That would be extremely helpful. Thanks~

You know I was just brainstorming making a pyro cosplay with some of the same ideas as yours when I stumbled upon these pictures. Any chance you have advice on where to buy some of the major components?
I'll have to figure out degreaser/hats on my own, maybe

I don't mind at all. It seems like the suit is the most difficult thing to find/make. Your blog will probably help a lot of people.
I found the suit at an army surplus store. It's actually a red mechanic's suit (kind of like this but with a collared neck: [link] ). It had a racing stripe stitched to the front that I removed. It was the only one they had in red at that store and I was lucky to find it a few sizes too big (the bulkier, the better- it hides curves better if you're female ). I'm sure suits like these are available on ebay.
I think getting/making the suit in a fabric that is not rubber or plastic-y is a good idea. This cosplay is hot enough as is without trapping in your body heat with a non-breathable material. I wore this one to late spring/summer conventions and sometimes I felt like I was dying from the heat .
I hope this is helpful for people looking for a suit. I always suggest going to army surplus stores in/near/around your area first and then checking online. I found my gas mask at the same store as the suit.
Would you be able to send me a link to your blog?

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this! These messages didn't pop up in my inbox for some reason.
I made the Pyromancer mask out of chicken wire. I just molded it into shape with my hands and around my gas mask and then added the horns after. I covered the wire frame with paper mache and then painted it with white acrylic paint.

You saw me at AN? That's really cool! And I'm glad you like my cosplay
I bet there aren't many Pyros at AN because it's always so darn hot at the end of May! This cosplay was stifling I'm surprised I never got heat stroke...

I actually made a sort of tutorial on how I made the canisters: [link]
I used mango juice cans and covered them in craft foam.
