What if Peter Quill/Star-Lord is the only member of the Guardians of the Galaxy to survive the Snap in Avengers: Infinity War/Avengers: Endgame(Avengers: Endgame)
(Peter Quill and Gamora spend time together as Gamora encourages Peter Quill to be open with her about his pain)
GAMORA: (deciding that Thor’s hut is not the best place for her and Peter Quill to have time alone together) Let’s go take a walk.
A few minutes later, Peter Quill and Gamora are in a valley on a cliff overlooking New Asgard in the distance. Once they are alone, Gamora turns to Peter Quill and gives her questions.
GAMORA: Peter, where have you been all this time? How did you survive?
At first, Peter Quill is hesitant, because he is in emotional pain to where he feels he cannot bring himself to face the woman he loves, but Gamora knows him better than anyone else and can tell when something is wrong with Peter Quill. And so, Gamora lifts Peter Quill by the chin and gently forces him to make eye contact with her.
GAMORA: Peter, I’ve known you long enough to know when something is wrong with you and when there isn’t, and right now, you are not telling me the truth. Tell me what’s wrong. I strongly encourage you that you can be open with me about your feelings and your thoughts and experiences. I love you more than anything, and I want to help you.
PETER QUILL: (knowing he cannot hide the truth from the woman he loves) Gamora, after the Snap, I was devastated. I felt like I had failed everyone. I tried to stop Thanos, but he was too powerful. I made a mistake, and he took advantage of it. I've been carrying the guilt of that failure ever since.
GAMORA: The mistake where you got really angry and lashed out at Thanos?
PETER QUILL: (taken aback at how Gamora easily knew what he did while not knowing all the details) The one where I learned what Thanos did to you, yes.
GAMORA: What happened to our team, the Guardians of the Galaxy?
PETER QUILL: Our entire team was among the victims of the Snap. I’m the only one that survived. Except now that you’re back and we’re together again, we’re the only ones left of our team.
GAMORA: Did you ever think about me while I was gone?
PETER QUILL: Gamora, I thought about you every day. Losing you was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced. I never stopped loving you, even when you were gone. My feelings for you have never changed. You're the love of my life, and I've missed you every day.
GAMORA: While you getting drunk is not new to me, Peter, like when you told me before that the only time you ever told me the story of David Hasselhoff being your father was when you were drunk, why have you taken getting drunk to where you have gotten really fat and lazy and grown your hair and beard to where you look like you’re out of shape?
PETER QUILL: After the Snap, I was in a dark place. I coped by drowning my sorrows in alcohol and trying to forget. It wasn't healthy, but it was the only way I knew how to deal with the pain. I mean, Gamora, I love you more than anything, and I’ve really hated the idea and fact that Thanos tried to take you away from me. It didn’t seem right nor fair.
