Description I had a friend working on a custom airsoft rifle. i got it in yesterday and it apparently was working great but something went wrong before I got my hands on it. So I'm uploading this to show it off a bit and see if folks I know can help me with the problem. It'll almost certainly involve gutting the thing, so drool now!

The space between the grenade launcher and the receiver is not so apparent when I have the sling on, I took that and the stock pouch off so you'd just see the rifle in its "default setting".
I'll do it proper justice with better photos later.

This was also my opportunity to experiment with the "Stash" feature, didn't work the way I thought but I get it now.

+

UPGRADED and now WORKING!
After a long down time and a conversion to the Fusion Engine this baby is now up and running. I built a barrel conversion that takes it from CQB to M4 length.

Love the shorty m203 I have one on my Masada. What kind of receiver is that? No dust cover and a rail segment acting as a brass deflector is sweet!

Thank you. unfortunately this is an old picture and i don't run this configuration anymore, the grenades were not so useful for me compared to the weight of carrying them.
But the receiver is a Madbull JP CNC Black. Rare but not difficult to acquire. Not having the dust cover was nice, cuz i never liked those and it gave me more workable access to the hop adjustment. the faux brass deflector is just that chunk of metal held on with 2 screws there. I SUSPECT that it was less about the look and more about a placeholder for a later upgrade/swap-out piece. That's not actually a rail segment on the side, it's just a slotted design in the metal (which i also liked) similar to the finger grip notches on a pistol slide.

Ah, it looks sweet, but yeah carrying even just a handful of 40mm shells is a bit cumbersome, along with the weight of the launcher slowing down rifle movement. How do you have the gun set up now?

individual accessories not withstanding, i elongated the inner barrel and added a ready mag, making it better for simple shoot-n-scoot and more active shooting
I found that, for me, a combination rifle really didn't work out too well. So, keep-it-simple-stupid, all those options don't offer any benefit if they aren't used enough to justify their cost in cash and weight

Yeah I can understand not carrying something if you don't use it, I'm the kind of guy who'll try to use any excuse to use something I have on my gun except with my We m4, on full auto the gas efficiency is just WAY too low :c. But I normally keep my guns "tidy", no rail covers or flashlights unless I'm doing a night op.

yeah, always want to try the cool toys. certainly got me into trouble XD
The scopes helped my poor vision and the rail covers helped keep the sharp rail edges from cutting and snagging. The best accessory i've used yet has been the angled fore grips.
For me, tidying my gear is more about removing the mags and fitting those shorties, then reconfiguring my rigs into HOPEFULLY more efficient configurations.
But through all that experimentation i've learned a lot more about the design element of these things that my logical preconceptions tried to resist. Oh and the uh, pure love of Magpul ^^

Sweet i appreciate it man what are you running gearbox wise? I was thinkin of going polarstar myself but i settled for a prowin shell and vfc internals.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MasterOkiAkai In reply to fijiboy [2013-05-25 02:29:40 +0000 UTC]

i'm running a polar star with a max red nozzle. I have found it to be exactly what i want as it allows me total control over the performance of the internasl, easy maintenance and supremely simple adjustment. The drawback being tethered to an air tank, but that only becomes an issue when i have to carry it for chronoing and adjustments.
I started with a custom built systema gearbox with a lot of top flight parts in it but it still did not perform the way i wanted. In fact it performed far below what i wanted. But it did end up training me on AEG mechanics.

If you could do a complete parts list that'd be awesome. I got the jp reciever, 7.25 noveske ris, and the ubr stock already but need everything else.

MasterOkiAkai In reply to fijiboy [2013-05-24 20:10:26 +0000 UTC]

Well i can't help ya with the budget part but i can give you a parts list.

Noveske 7.5 outer barrel
Noveske KX3 amplifier (i have since swapped that out for a Supressor)
Madbull Inner Barrel with Ultimate 3n1 Hop-up
Madbull thread adaptor (for minor spacing, gets the supressors off the edge of the RIS)
Madbull RAS fix ver 1 (ver2 is smaller and cheaper and may be a better choice for you, but i wanted the platform real estate to raise my optics)
Magpul ladder rail covers
Magpul mags with a couple of pulls to experiment with
Magpul MS2 sling (this may be the best part of the whole thing, it is SO comfy for me)
magpul side rail RSA sling mount (i went with the loop instead of a QD swivel to make it more stable, though it can take some fenagling depending on whether you are left or right handed)
King Arms CQB grenade Launcher
Magpul MBUS flip Sights (replaced the oversized rhino ones)

The light is just something i picked up, and it's mounted in a scope ring. If you need a lamp, get something better.
The laser sight is built on the side of my red dot scope
I have both of the Magpul angled fore grips but i have since moved those to other guns instead
I moved the amplifier to my P90 and now use it with a Venom Supressor and a longer barrel (M4 length)
I also got the expanded butt pad for the UBR stock

Oh i forgot the element G27 Grip.
Not going to recommend that one as there has been more grips in similar styles and better quality out since then.
But it works for me and it has been damn sturdy.

Yeah and I don't THINK there is any rifle that comes with that receiver set. If i recall correctly, even the JP marksman rifles that are part of that line don't come with it, and if they do they're in the 600$ + range.

Madbull JP CNC upper and lower receiver. has no dust cover and no way to mount one (which i like) but has a very narrow slot by which to access the hop up (where the red nozzle is, as it was not installed in these images)
Sturdy and crisp as you could POSSIBLY hope to find for the AR15 platform ^^

I'll have to look for a set ") I have a VLTOR upper which 'used' to be my favourite ") A Madbull ultimate hop-up would be easy to access through the ejection port I bet ")

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MasterOkiAkai In reply to bizkilter [2013-03-20 02:20:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah i got the ultimate hop up for it. was the ONLY way i'd be able to adjust it with that narrow port.
Picked up the ProWin version to experiment with but the damn things are incomplete for advanced swap out as opposed to drop in replacements.
The VLTOR is pretty similar, except that it appeals more to the fans of M4 aesthetic so it has the forward assist and dust cover. And those are things along with the charging handles that always bugged me as useless fluff that ends up breaking almost immediately.
But I built my carbine to last and be tough as I can make it to last as long as possible with the current product line. At this point, it has done just that.

Its an airsoft gun. Why put a tac light, back up sights, a supressor, and a seriosuly obstructive optic on it? That just makes it way heavier then it needs to be and has no benifit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MasterOkiAkai In reply to 0Anesthetic4u [2013-01-15 09:18:51 +0000 UTC]

Airsoft as part cosplay and part LARPing. That's reason enough.
This is part of a photo shoot with my rifle in several configurations, this being the most loaded of them. And since you haven't handled my rifle or seen how i use it, naturally you wouldn't be able to see the benefit.

Everything has a situational use and gets used when i need it. The weight increase is noticeable but negligible and doesn't affect my performance.
That's an amplifier, not a suppressor. The Grenade Launcher fully loaded weighs as much as all those other items put together.
The one exception is the magnifier, which is defective and pretty much just for looks or back-up spotting now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

0Anesthetic4u In reply to MasterOkiAkai [2013-01-16 02:37:11 +0000 UTC]

I wasn't argueing the Grenade Launcher because I know that it shoots a wide spread of pellets and that would be usefull.

How is the Magnification Optic defective. Did you dial it in(I feel like Im asking you if you pluged in your toaster)?

Something that isn't well known about soldiers who have lights on their guns is that they don't particularly like them. They definantly don't want to be without them, but they use them as little as possible. If the situation does not demand that the light be on for survival then it stays off. As such a tac light on an airsoft gun is just there to seem cool not serve a function.

Finnally even if your Optic was working properly, you are shooting an airsoft gun, it does not possess the range to require an optic. Puting one on can only obscure your vision with no actual benifit. Also pleas never put a grip on your Airsoft guns people. Those only help if your gun actually recoils.

MasterOkiAkai In reply to 0Anesthetic4u [2013-01-16 08:53:27 +0000 UTC]

Why are you even starting this argument at all? Quit the chair-softing, your Jane's Guide's getting dusty. I am doing with my rig what is best for my goals and needs and if you want to play the "what soldiers do" card, fine. Soldiers do what works best for them in their time and place. The end.

Replica magnifiers have a bad reputation for being defective. In my case the lenses were out of alignment to the right, which made my reticle end up off to the left while aiming. And dialing it in at that point just means the flip part becomes pointless and all my shots will be wrong. At best i can use it for spotting with my bad vision.

I'm not a soldier, I like having it on my gun when i use it, what other people do has nothing to do with what works for me. It serves a function when i need it and when i don't need it i take it off.
My optics help me with my poor eyesight and on the dense fields i play on. Even if my motivation half the time is tacticool is nobody's business but mine. And again, since you don't know me, my gun or my fields, you have no idea what my benefit actually is.
I use an angled foregrip on it when not using the launcher because it works for me and helps when i have to carry it all day long. And no, grips do help with more than just recoil, the better the ergonomics, the better they help with fatigue.

Nope, not real, there's actually a SLIGHT difference in the construction of the stock, barely noticeable.
Most all airsoft mags look real on the outside, sure, but they are full of tubes and gears.
The grip i like because it blends well with the lines of the gun, and blends into my hand perfectly. :3

ken1171 In reply to MasterOkiAkai [2011-10-02 04:54:18 +0000 UTC]

The part that would benefit the MOST of being metal was the piston and the compression chamber. Everything else could be plastic, for the real job and most of the material strain happens in the there.

MasterOkiAkai In reply to ken1171 [2011-10-02 05:33:00 +0000 UTC]

well, in this case most of the strain happened to the bevel gear, cuz that was shattered in the initial testing.
