So. I hear Meggy's Destiny was pretty good. I wouldn't know. I didn't have wifi until today, and I got spoiled to hell and back on Twitter. Not like it was much of a reveal, I guess. Like, of course Meggy would win.

W.Rider: Marina, I don’t think you really got the point of all that.
W.Marina: Ah don’t care, y’all were out! The other team won. Y’all put me in the other ‘Rina’s position, and her say is final!
W.Marie: Coddamnit ‘Rina you weren’t even lookin’ the right way! YOU WEREN’T EVEN AT THE SPECTATOR’S BOX!
W.Callie: True...you WERE at the mini bar, though. How could you tell we were out?
W.Marina: ...Markus told me.
W.Rider: Markus was the captain of the opposite team!
W.Marina: Yeh well...it WAS his round. Didn’t wanna upset him. Look if y’all wanted someone to swindle the rules why not Pearlie? What was even the point of that?!
(War Callie looks sadly towards War Meggy. She is standing with her back to the team. An angled front shot shows that she is both angry and upset, her arms crossed and a tear leaking from her eye)
W.Callie: I wanted...to cheer Meggy up. She’s been REALLY sour ever since that other Meggy announced her intentions to win Finalfest. I wanted to help her win at least one of her own.
W.Meggy: (mumbled, small text) Yeah, thanks for nothing.
W.Callie: Come again?
W.Meggy: (turns to face the group, her face full of fury) I SAID THANKS FOR NOTHING, CYBORG! (she storms off, her footsteps audible as CLOMP CLOMP Sound effects) Knocked out in the first round...
(War Marie turns to the still swilling War Marina)
W.Marie: We really need to get you off that stuff, Octoslob.
W.Marina: Hypo-*hic*-crite...
W.Marie: Cal, Rider, let’s get freshened up down the Infirmary.
W.Rider: Sounds like my kind of plan.
W.Callie: But, what about Meggy?
W.Marie: She'll be fine after an hour or so. I'm sure of it.

Ah, I get it, now. The War Splats wanted to help Meggy win Splatfest and failed miserably.

So, W. Meggy wants human Meggy to lose, if I’m not going braindead. Meggy rooting for Killer Ink. There’s a funny thing to think about, ain’t it?

Not for Killer Ink specifically. I hear SMG4 didn't give them much focus. I hear they don't even have names. She just wants Meggy to fail in general.

Yeah, the presentation of Killer Ink was a disappointment. No names. No characterization beyond “they be meanies”. Nothing we fans can’t fix, of course. And so, their names, inspired by but not actually using the odd naming conventions of the manga:
Winter (leader, white jacket)
Helga (helmet)
Mack (gas mask)
Cameron (camo jacket)
I had an idea for an alternate ending in which after Meggy is announced to be the winner, Winter breaks down and reveals that she knew Desti and was also trying to win for her, but... the backstory I had in mind kinda clashes with what characterization Winter is given.

Desti’s sister sounds like a good idea. She probably blames Meggy for Desti’s death. And Sam and Kenji would oppose her because they feel she abandoned them. Not too sure about Meggy’s mentor, though.

Easy. Flash back to when Meggy was in the default gear, show he tried to stop her attitude that she has at first, she abandons him and tries to make it on her own. And...well, the Anime Arc happens. The mentor joins up with Desti's sister, disappointed and angry with Meggy's path and determined to put her in her place.

Her main character trait is indeed envy. That's why the title is A Red Eye Under Jade Glass - she is jaded, and it's a reference to the Jade-Coloured Glasses trope that deals with what War Meggy went through.
