Script:
(a fade to later on. The night has settled in, and its dark. War Meggy has collapsed to a sitting position in her cell. She is staring at the floor, a look of sorrow on her face)
W.Marina: Awright everyone, lights out!
(CLUNK, the final few lights go out, leaving War Meggy in the darkness. She sniffles)
W.Meggy: I just...wanna win...
W.Callie: Psst! Hey, Meg!
(War Meggy looks up. War Callie is standing outside her cell, key in hand)
W.Meggy: What’re you here for?
W.Callie: I just wanna help.
W.Meggy: You’ve helped enough!
W.Callie: Says who? Meggy...it’s a matter of principle. I think. A happy worker is a hard worker, right? I think even Pearl would like it if you were cheered up.
W.Meggy: Screw that Gremlin.
W.Callie: I mean, same, but-
W.Meggy: I JUST WANTED TO WIN SOMETHING! (War Callie is taken aback by the outburst. War Meggy’s resolve finally collapses, and she falls her knees. She starts crying) Just something...all my life, I’ve done nothing but fail. That noodle limbed freak won something I should have had as a dead cert! That victory was supposed to be mine. I was supposed to win. Me...(she points at herself) ME! Not some pencil who stole my life...(starts sobbing)
(War Callie sighs, and she slowly opens the cell door. She stretches her arms out for a hug. War Meggy gets to her feet, and then throws herself into War Callie’s arms, wrapping her own around the Squidster’s torso and sobbing loudly into her shoulder)
W.Callie: There we go, Meggo...(softly strokes her head) Let it all out.
W.Meggy: (distraught) I’M A FAILURE!!!
W.Callie: You’re not, Meggy. Sshh, shh, there we go. You wanna sandwich? (War Meggy nods) You want some fresh air? (Another nod) Awesome. Let me just go make a picnic, we’ll get you topside, alright? Alright. I will help. I promise.
