Chonk Meggy: I mean...I never wanted to lose. I ran Desti's name through the mud. And I don't think I'll ever get over that. But, remember what you said last time you were here? It didn't have to be the end, or something? I'm gonna hurt for a while. But if I can't become Splatfest Champion...maybe I can become a chef. Have a new goal in life, you know?

Meggy Prime: Well that's one thing you do better than me. My cooking opened an interdimensional portal into Hell.

Chonk Meggy: Oh yeah that happened a few times...

That was the best title I could come up with smh I am not on my game today.

So, Meggy's Part Time Job. An episode that seemed talior-made for people like me. It's Meggy, like mainly Meggy, getting into shenenigans, with what appeared to be a teaser for her series. All the elements were there...so why didn't I like it? I mean outside of the obvious like the thumbnail being misrepresentative as always and the title being inaccurate, I couldn't pin it down. And then I thought about it, talked with some friends about it, and it clicked. I dislike the episode because A: The humour rarely landed, B: Shroomy basically destroyed Meggy's house, AND Mario destroyed her funds, and got away with it and C: the Splatoon references were the same sort of middle finger to the community than Leader and her team was.

I think THAT'S why I dislike the episode. Meggy's grief and troubles have been a big focus of her character compared to others, and a sudden lack of consequences is really distracting to me. Meggy's been through a lot of shit this year, and most of that due to Mario or E.Gadd. Splatfest, SMG3's arc, the texture-stealers, the mask...I just feel she should have a breaking point. A point where she storms out the castle like "I'm fucking DONE" and just have some time to herself. And yes, in this case she crossed dimensions just to get away from her troubles. I write good, I promise.

As for Future Failure/Chonk Meggy...well, she's still the failure who ate her grief away. So she's still a heckin' chonker. But I sort of want her to be more than "sad fat womanchild". That's not really tasteful, is it? So she'll keep the whole "failure" angle, but with a few more things here and there. Just try out new things, find her new calling in life. Cook some decent food because tbh I grow weary of the "Cooks so bad it breaks reality" trope. Kind of just stale, you know? I might make her a custom texture, even if it's just a recolour, but I guess we'll have to see.

Oh yes, and if the comic looks like it's unfinished and it just stops abruptly...it does. See, I like Meggy, but I dislike messing with her model in GMOD. As Melony sort of proved, the SMG4 bros' rigging skills aren't great (like mine are better, of course). For Meggy, it's her face bones. Well, her mouth bones. There's a very obvious gap between her teeth and lips that isn't natural, and her lip mesh stretches unreasonably further when being moved. So if you try to give her a distrinct expression, it looks like someone's stretching her mouth skin using their fingers, and it looks...REALLY wrong. Maybe I'm just spoiled because the Inkling models are really expressive by comparison, and it can probably be fixed, but it just makes it harder to use her when her expressions are so limited. Not sure what SMG4 does in his videos, but...it's not what I'm doing. Especially weird as Tari and Saiko don't have this issue. Can't say the same for Belle, Whimpu or Melony as I haven't used them yet.

...Speaking of, release the new Axol textures already? Please?
