Description This is a top view of two masks that I made as part of my art final submissions for the end of this term. You can't see all the details of the redish-maroon velvet strips on them, but I'll submit other photos of them that are easier to see the design. The masks are partially covered by rose petals and other pot-puri flakes. This is all contained in a black box with a message under the cover/lid that says, "Just promise me it will never happen again and I will stay buried", which relates to guilt.

That's a really cool shot, but I wonder ho did the title arise?

We had to do an issue for the art theme, so I decided to study genocide, because I was always confounded by how it could ever happen and involved thousands of individuals or masses of soldiers actually consenting to kill other thousands of people. It was as if these soldiers didn't have a mind of their own or either were brainwashed so badly by their dictator leaders or their malice overrode their sense of compassion / civility. But since, I am an "outsider" to all these events (Native American Indian massacres, Aboriginie massacres, Holocaust, East Timor, etc.) because I've never experienced slaughter, I can't really make sure judgements on everything about that.

You can't be so sure mass murders/ genocide won't ever happen again, after it's happened over and over throughout history.

Just to make it clear, I did not intend to 'make and art out of' genocide. That's too inexplicably wrong. This was based on questions and outsider perspective.

Hmm very interesting, not quite the answer I was expecting. I'm quite certain genocide will occur once again(probably even more than once) I mean even now still people are dying around the world for similar causes everyday, it's a shame but these things do happen and it may just be a matter of time before these things happen again in masses.

I asked my dad once why so many wars happen, he said mainly because of intolerance. That's sad. I'm sure there's a bit of intolerance in most people, but taking violent action for it makes it very different.

I suppose I'm a bit intolerant at times, but on the other hand I am tolerated quite a bit so if I were to act on anything, I'd probably regret it... not that I'm the violent type though
