Description The exhilaration of victory was a faded, distant memory. The more battles she won, the more opponents that presented themselves. The cycle had, for her, become routine. She knew eventually she'd lose, but she'd keep rising to defend everyone anyway. Maybe the Director could find a way to stop the monsters before it came to that.

This is one I'm pretty psyched about, for now (though I'm sure I'll come to realize how amateurish it was 6 months from now haha). There was a fairly elaborate setup in terms of reference photos. I built a crude set out of cardboard and had my friend pose as the injured heroine getting patched up. Definitely the way I want to proceed going forward: better reference means better final paintings.

EDIT: Finally got a decent camera, so I took a new shot of it!

4/29/2022: I've been going back through my images, and I didn't realize just how crushed and dark this one was! Re-adjusted everything in Photoshop to make it appear as close to the original as possible. Also added the short vignette that goes with it!

2016, oil on canvas, 30 x 55.5 inches.

Well, would be interesting to see an art along this kind, something like a Lioness giantess that had the hell absolutely kicked out of her because operations can sometimes go awry, but she is growling and roaring at the monster that she's fighting in a "bring it on!" fashion because she's definitely not letting this stop her.

I 100% agree with you! I've got some sketches for compositions like that. Hopefully this year after my Kickstarter campaign has wrapped up I'll be able to turn them into full paintings. Thanks for checking out my work and commenting, I really appreciate it!

I like the detail of the warning signs. That would be required in any government facility or OSHA would come shut them down. Why the protective suits? Danger from the Lioness' or kaiju germs? Having a model must be really useful for drawing hands.Β

Making that warning sign was one of my favorite parts. If I ever do conventions or something, I'd love to get some made. Might work on a shirt too.

The suits are there to protect the doctors and technicians from all sorts of things. Kaiju blood, spit, poison, or really any kind of bodily fluid. Plus, probably don't want to be working inside a huge wound without something to keep your own skin and clothes clean!

Thanks so much! Yeah, I had a lot of fun designing the warning signs. I'm thinking they'd make a great shirt or poster design at some point, once my project is bigger!

This might be my favorite piece on your DA - love it! And the signs at the left Fantastic

Thank you so much! There's a lot more where this piece came from. I'm building an entire world with the hope of publishing a book in the same vein as Dinotopia. The signs were definitely one of my favorite things to make- I'm thinking they might make a good t shirt?

Sometimes when a piece of art is so good I just don't comment because it feels like any comment would be unworthy of its greatness... this is one of those times, but here I am commenting anyway. This is greatness on a whole new level. You rule.

She's definitely strong, but there's some really tough monsters out there.

In the world I'm building, these women undergo an irreversible process to become humanity's protectors!

For sure. I think it's pretty typical for size changing heroes, be that Ultraman, Ant-man, Elastigirl, or whoever, to be able to change at will, and I wanted to make it a much bigger deal (pun intended) in my own work. Characters in my world don't just become heroines without any consequences.

she's skinny... and also her skin should be very hard to break....
maybe next time you would make her better
