Description
When the sirens sounded, Alice and her family wasted no time. Crammed into the aging car, they rocketed down the highway. Smoke plumes rose up along the horizon, and thunder sounded in spite of a cloudless sky. Thunder that, as the miles passed by, revealed itself to be tremendous, monstrous roars and footfalls. The highway brought Alice and her family perilously close to the fight they were trying to escape. The kids in the back seat cheered when the monster fell, but only for a moment before the squealing of the brakes overpowered them. The giant woman, victorious, teetered and swayed in exhaustion before collapsing backwards. The bridge supported her weight, barely, and she caught her breath in ragged gulps. The car slammed to a halt, and Alice stepped out. Breathing heavily herself, she looked up in anger, awe, and admiration.

This one was a lot of fun, snags and all, and I'm especially proud of the way it turned out. I mentioned it with the last one, but it's worth mentioning again that there's something I'm really enjoying about working on this smaller scale. In addition to being a nice change of pace after working exclusively on huge pieces for years, I find that it's easier for me to create and preserve textures.
With bigger pieces, it's really tempting, and easy, to blend out brush strokes and create a smooth, even finish. Sometimes that's what you want, but in a lot of my favorite old master paintings, there's texture everywhere. I'm still working on figuring out how to create interesting brush strokes and textures the way Bouguereau, Alma-Tadema, Waterhouse, and many others did in the past.
I'm planning on doing a few more smaller to medium sized pieces in preparation for the convention coming up in October, so there's more giants and monsters heading your way soon!

Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me, because that's one of my biggest goals with my work- to create a convincing sense of scale. No pun intended, haha!

Ever going to make a comic or story based around the picture?

Yes! Actually, there's a short story snippet that goes with each one of my paintings, and I always post the writing in the description. Speaking more broadly, I'm on the second draft of a longer story for an illustrated novel set in the Vigilant Lioness universe. I posted digital studies for the prologue and first act to my Patreon page. I'm actually going to be sending all of my patrons a free print of either this painting or Wolves Surround the Farm here in the next few days. The sign ups for this giveaway technically closed at the end of November, but I haven't ordered the prints yet if you still wanted to get yourself one!
Thank you so much for checking out my work!

Well, I love it. I can image a brief moment between the giantess and the mother. A silent mixture of fear and relief between them.

This piece is gorgeous <3 I love the story in the description as well; I'm hoping that awe and admiration will win out over anger and Alice will like, thank the woman rather than like, berate her or something

Thank you so much! She'll definitely be thankful, ultimately! It's just that initial adrenaline rush of almost meeting an untimely end has her on edge, especially with the family in the car and all. Even if Alice wanted to berate the giantess, I'm sure her survival instinct would keep her from shouting obscenities at someone that could squish her like a bug. Thanks again for the kind words!

This is a gorgeous piece, all the way.
I like how your caption leads the reader to this very moment you pictured.
I like how the light and presence of this gigantic woman takes nearly all the framing, suggesting for more.
I like the story told by this other woman, stepping out, small, yet rightfully surprised.
Finally, It's an interesting piece for someone like me who would picture herself as monumental, sitting on this bridge, and realizing through your eyes the damage and stupor caused.
Your vision mattered. Thank you for it

The impact effects are amazing, but I think my very favorite part of this painting is the car, and how good the lighting on it looks. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much! It really makes my day to hear that about the car. I haven't had as much experience painting cars as I'd like, so it's great that this one turned out so well!

It's a nice moment, seeing one of the giantesses just having to sit from the exhaustion of fighting giant monsters. And for her it's a random sitting spot, though to anyone else it's a bridge. Great job on the details of it too.

Thank you so much! And yeah, exactly! I wanted to capture that disconnect. It's probably hard for these giants to really be fully aware of the impact that even simple movements like sitting down have on regular people. There's also a ridiculous amount of roadwork being done around where I live. It's hard to get anywhere because so many streets and highways are blocked off. This painting is the kind of roadblock you can't really anticipate though, haha!

Ha ha ha ha, I like that anecdote. I can understand the roadwork all too well and how unexpected detours can be needed. it'd be funny if at times when a giantess has done damage then there's all kinds of warning signs and what not for people on the streets to be careful of them.
