*giggles like a maniac* I loved Power Rangers as a kid. Didn't realize they were Japanese in origin until I was older. (Why is it everything I like has it's roots in Japanese culture? Even "Star Wars" was partially based on an old Japanese film...)

Because Japan is oh so much cooler than us.
But, to be fair, the origin of super powered robots can be traced through Mazinger Z to American superheroes. So it's more give and take and reinterpret.

Yeah, that's kinda true. Too bad Saban is probably denying it right now.

I was expecting Ultraman to say "退け!"

Matt used "うăȘり棰" (unari koe), literally meaning "growling voice" or "roaring voice".

"退け" (doke) means "to put something out of the way". Basically "outta the way".

Ah, cool.
I'm looking at taking courses in Japanese starting next semester...
Is it just me or is it a beautiful sounding language?

Mmm... Can't say. I'll give that they can definitely convey certain things a lot better than English can sometimes.

So, how much Japanese do you know?

Enough to get the gist (a little better if I have a dictionary) but my grammar is horrible - simple sentences, yes; full conversation, no. :3

Would you be able to work out rough translations of text?
I've got all the episodes of Combattler V on my laptop subbed, but they have no episode titles and there are no episode titles anywhere on the net...but each episode has a title screen that shows the episode title...

If ever, it will have to wait. I lost loads of data when my old laptop decided to crap out on me, so i need to re-get a bunch of files before i make any headway on this.

I never realized that the MMPR were Japanese until I went to wikipedia years ago. Then again, they did try to release a poorly dubbed (think worst than Sandy Frank) version of the Ultraman series on Fox which ran, I don't know, three episodes before they replaced it with a cartoon about dancing food...
