I really wish someone at Sega would decide to make a good Sonic game. Where he just runs around fast and jumps on robots... seems simple enough. Kinda strange that the funnest version of Sonic to play thsi year (in my opinion) is in a game made by Nintendo, heh.

i liked the old sonic games more too, probably the last good sonic game was sonic heroes, but oh well i dont have anything against the new ones

Sonic Advanced Series (and yeah rush) but they seem to lack that heart the old games did, i dunno whats wrong with the games, ther not bad, but seem to lack the fun of the old Megadrive/MegaCD quadrillogy (im ignoring the spinball game)

why did sonic surf/ ride hover board, he can travel much faster than his body mass needs to run across water.
but yeah i know what ya mean. why they find it so hard to make teh game... he has super speed. (see teh game over thinker, he puts it about as well as anyone else does) it should be piece of cake to make a decent game for him.

To tell the truth, I love anything Sonic is in, maybe call it i'm a really hardcore fan, but whatever the case although alot of games with sonic do have alot of bugs, and things that should have been worked on a bit harder, it was still a aspect i enjoyed, although, I am very very very excited for this new 2D game coming out... "Project NeedleMouse"

Well as far as 3D goes, I think Unleashed was by far the best Sonic game out! I know people didn't like the WereHog concept, and whatnot, but I actually thought it was kind of cool, and yeah it isn't for everyone but, if people liked games like God of war, the WereHog touch was actually somewhat fun...
For those who weren't into a god of war type game play, strictly the day stages in Unleashed were great, and most can agree with this...
I think though that people are being way too critical for a game to be considered "Good"
I mean it seems like even while a game is pretty good, instead of looking to a small bug in the game, they diss the whole thing...
To be honest I can't wait for NeedleMouse, but if they were to make a Sonic 3D game, I think even though I loved all the other titles out regardless of bugs and just being broken, I think they should base it on Speed, and making it simple like it was said Speed and smashing robots...
I think it could be fun to see a HD (Which NeedleMouse is suppose to be...) Adventure but in 3D and place in a side scrolling when it has to be, type game, where say the story is once again Doc Eggman is trying to take over the world, and its a all out race through the stage as fast as you like, smashing many on the way through game, and if too simple for some, they could have a side stage for each of the simple stages, that can also be played which is instead of just a speedy smashing fest but a kind of hard mode for those who want a bit more difficult action...
I think to make it fair they should have the same story out play for either stage the player chooses to play, but if you do beat the harder stages you'll win something like Icons saying so, just for the pride of those hardcore gamers...
I think this would be best considering everyone is seeming to hate on the games feeling that Sega has forgotten the point of the game is speed, and if a game is really fast it'll have to become really simple or else it would become frustratingly hard to zoom by and have to accomplish 50 things on the way, simpleness has never been a bad thing...

hey hey hey, I understand that Sonic games aren't like what they used to be, but you people should really stop complaining, at Sonic is even alive right now, trust me when I say that people are killing Sonic more and more now, Sega are trying hard to bring him back with Project Needlemouse (I hope) but if you keep complaining, Sonic won't even get a chance. So please support him, no matter how terrible his new games get, complaining will just kill him, so we need to support him to bring him back. And his new games aren't that bad, not as good as the old ones but still, support him, he's dying as we complain.

hah no sorry dude. If Sega doesn't make good games then you shouldn't buy them. If you buy crappy games it says to them "this is okay, people will accept crappy games".
Stop buying them and Sega will have to put some effort into their future Sonic games.

Third actually counting Opa-Opa. Neither Opa-Opa or Alex Kidd was around for more than a few years. Sonic has lasted 18 years so far, they are not changing.
If there were good Sonic games coming out I would buy them, but there aren't.

they've strayed really far fromt he original concept, which is "Sonic runs around very fast."

nah i prefer them when they were straight forward fun, if i wanted a complicated game with combos and thought needed i'd play somethin else. I miss just bombing thru a level in 30 secs! Altho the Sonic Rush ones on DS are bringin a fair bit of that back, just could do with out the annoying discussions with a million more characters than t ever needed between each level

News Flash: Sonic can't be just a platformer character anymore. The reason is the same as why Mario branched out. People need to stop with these petty complaints, because it will do no good.

Marios has branched out, but has still always had a great core platformer game, that sticks to and expands upon the basic Mario gameplay. (Super Mario World, MArio 64, Sunshine, Mario Galaxy....)
Sonic has abandoned it's core elements and only does spinoff games.

Nope, 'fraid not. Sonic runs around in a VERY limited way in recent games. Indeed in Sonic Unleashed you spend most of the time in Werehog mode, and the running parts are just a tease of the great game they COULD make but won't for whatever reason.
Mario hasn't strayed much from his original formula, you still essentially run around, hit boxes, collects coins, and jump on things.

Sonic game sales are disastrous, considering he used to be on par as a franchise with Mario. Now Sonic is a B-list property at best, down with the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon.

Only because people have absurd standards. There are some people who dislike Mario's branching out but the people who dislike Sonic's attempts at doing so are really the ones doing harm to the franchise. People are over reacting over problems which shouldn't have that big an impact on the game itself (I know this because I've played many of the games in question). I wont deny there's problems, but there's not enough to warrent the "fanbase" to act like spoiled brats.

i don't mean to criticize anyone in particular but going back to the old 2d games will ruin sonic the hedgehog!!!
think about it, sure old fans loved just sonic tails and eggman but just because you've been with sonic since he started doesn't mean sega should go back to that same format for every single game!! i've just started liking sonic like last year or something and i'm sick and tired of people criticizing the new games. "Oh, why did sega add a werewolf.""Why did they add a sword, an airboard?"
sure sega has had some weird things for sonic like the werehog and sword but going back to running around for no reason won't make it better!
Fans might love sonic for his speed, or the game play, or how he has cool new items (hence sword and airboard) and others might like it cause he's their childhood hero but, if we went back to just running around you would lose the fans that love the characters, the fans that love the new games with swords and airboards ans werehog and a whole bunch of other fans. I don't care if you say " you shouldn't be talking, you started liking him this year." my brother has the old games and i play them! all sonic games are equal good to me so stop picking on sega and wait till they make a game you like for heaven's sake!!
