Nice. Crono wanted to continue to fight Lavos to save his friends and time. But Lavos shot a beam that destroyed him.

Yeah, that was quite the scene for sure. To have Crono give up his own life for the sake of his friends. A very heroic act.

When I played the game for the first time and this happened... Well, I didn't expect that to happen, to say the least. But I suspected there was a way to bring him back, 'cause for the main, not to mention titular character of the game to just die... That doesn't usually happen. Turns out I was right, and the emotional revival scene was totally worth it.

Yeah, really some surprising twists... when we get him back to life, if we decide to do so, it is really something special... yet, after he's back, my impression and that of a friend of mine is that it's almost as if he is soulless, a mere puppet, because he can now be swapped in and out of the party, and the fact he never speaks become very evident in scenes in which other characters react and comment the event underway. After my friend pointed that out I never could see him the same after he dies... It's like he's not supposed to be brought back...

Huh, now that you mention it... It does sound rather grim...
On the side note, what do you think of Chrono Trigger's crossover potential? I think it has quite a bit. The most basic scenario one cam come up with, for example, is that Epoch malfunctions at some point and, rather than sending them through time, sends them to another dimension.
But there's not much good CT fanfiction unfortunately.

Sure, I think it has a great potential for crossovers and for appearing as easter eggs in other games, animations, comics, etc.
That "malfunction" plot opens a vast gamut of possibilities, indeed!
Also, making the characters more adult and dark would be cool, as originally the game's plot is quite sad and dark already.

True, true. And yeah, CT is pretty dark at it's core indeed.
Also, there might be another, as well as more grim crossover scenario. Like, towards the end of the game we found out that ''Lavos'' species are actually alien life forms that absob the energy from the planets' core, as well as DNA of all species that lived there through that time, and then, when gathered enough, emerge and destroy the planet, to create a suitable envroment for it's, uh, 'children' to grow in.
Then, when said children mature, they depart, in search of another planet to destroy. That brings the question, how many planets have they already ruined? And how many more WILL they ruin?
This idea is that one of the 'Lavos' species lands on a planet from another fictional word, be it game, anime, etc.

Since I first read this comment and that when you say of the epoch malfunction I have thought that this "one of the Lavos' species lands on a planet from another fictional word, be it game, anime, etc." would make a good storyline as comics in a crossover with Samus Aran! Lavos does recall a metroid, I think!
