Description
needed a height chart for one of her projects, so I came up with this.You have the young filly size, (such as the CMC age range) then the standard pony size. Which I am calling, the Adult size. (From twilight and the mane 6, to the general pony populace.)
Next, is the Luna, Cadence, and Fleur appearence and height.
Followed by celestia, Discord, and, Sombra.
I used several sources to try and get the heights right, so I hope you like them, and if you disagree with my results, or there is already a height chart, I would appreciate the comments ^^

This is a bit inaccurate. Next to each other, it is shown that Luna is a few inches (depending on Equestria measurement @.@) taller than Cadence, and it's easy to see using Rarity that Fleur is much shorter than Cadence. It is possible that Sombra is blown up a bit here, too. The average pony height is shrunken quite a bit, ennough so that they seem barely over half the size of what I'm assuming is Luna.

Speaking of height; are Twilight and other mane 6 4'2" tall, like Luna, Cadance and fleur de lisle are 4'10" tall, Celestia is 6'6" tall and CMC are 2'11" tall.

I always thought that Sombra was shorter than Celestia, but taller than an average mare. Maybe a little bigger than S1 Luna.

not bad. just sombra was a little bit anti-climatic. He seemed so awesome, but didn't get enough time on screen.

Matt and I were pretty pleased with the two-part premiere. We really thought the set-up was great. Of course, like the other fans, we both agreed on one con/downside: King Sombra.
When we first saw Sombra (I showed Matt that head shot so many fans saw earlier on. He happen to still be on a trip at my place, too). We both thought he was some joke OC by one of the FIM staff members. To be honest, I was unsure on his appearance once it became official, but I have to say the purple mist (what I like to call "eye flames") really grew on me, as had the rest of his appearance. Sombra and his shadow form were pretty cool, and his voice even fit his part. What LITTLE we saw of him. Which was our issue with it. What we saw of Sombra was great, but it left for little characterization to be involved, and he seemed to have a limited vocabulary. I jokingly said to Matt, when we watched it together: "God, he's like the Gollum, when it comes to crystals." I was impressed they went to the theme of dark magic (sooo awesome 8D), and the fact in a world of colorful magic talking ponies, slavery and manual labor was involved, but it was just the limited time we had of Sombra. Being storytellers ourselves, both Matt and I would have gone about the story, differently. We loved Sombra, it was his limitation we hated. When it comes to the villains thus far, he is the worst villain role, for it. It was funny in a pathetic way, how when the Crystal Heart is charging up, all he does is "NO. STOP." Jesus, Sombra. You really thought they'd stop at your command? You were able to send a jagged piece of dark crystal, into a baby dragon's direction (which seemed pretty impressive being a kid's targeted show too), but you couldn't even jump down, morph into shadow and back into the ground, or EVEN know when it was necessary to retreat for another day and chance to fight back. He was the villain that just stood and got "destroyed" (as we don't know until further notice if he really is dead).
While Discord did the same when the six were rounded and they returned together aand used the elements on him, at LEAST he had caused problems and disorder and had two episodes of air time. Arrogance had been his downfall, and while he just sat and did nothing but cry out in shock, at least he had more development and character that showed just how much more he was, compared to Sombra. Even Chrysalis had this over him, too. Both characters had more development and even seemed a bit more strategic.
Of course, it's not to say Sombra is bad, per se. But from the beginning, he was really set up to be so high and important role-wise, while Celestia mentioned him. It was just a bit anti-climatic, bottom line. He was just set on too high of standards from the get go, that by the time he finally attacked or made action in the episodes, it may as well have been like he just sat there, and someone flicked him on the nose and he ran off, defeated.
To be fair, the more I let it stew in my head, the more I feel that while Sombra needed a bit better of characterization, the episodes weren't about him. It was meant to be centered on Twilight and her tasks at hand. Celestia was testing where she stood, before she could progress to the next level of her studies. So, to be fair, the episodes were meant to be focused on Twilight, her struggles, and getting to where she needed to goal-wise. Sometimes, I feel when it came to Sombra his role seemed more like Sauron, in importance. He's an established, sinister villain, but he was more of a theme, than a threat. As Matt first thought of him, he felt King Sombra was more of an "evil force" than an evil villain, which are two different distinct things.
Still, that leaves to debate - is that the end of Sombra, or is the season focused on him as a villain? Seeing that horn itself shoot out seemed almost a little foreboding. Will we see Sombra again? We don't know, but storytelling wise, it's a very strong possibility. It might be he was just being established, and he returns later on in the season. Again, we don't know.
It was a bit of a let down, and Matt felt as I did, but at the same time, I feel his role was set as it was, for a reason. I trust the writers. They know what they are doing, and I believe there is something to be further explained. I can tell the direction of the season is different, already. With more seasons, comes more bold actions.
Of course, I'd have still loved some anti-harmony, or anti-good monologue or where Sombra sent dialogue in the direction of the mane six.

Yes, I thought the same. Matt felt Sombra was probably at Shining Armor's height, but the way he stood seemed towering. It's hard to say where his height is, since he is never beside other characters to know, but I had an idea. It's a little tricky, but only what we can go on - Sombra was only so much of a role in the episodes (Sadly. He's like Sauron, role-wise

This is actually pretty damn good. I'm a bit iffy about Sombra, still feel his closer to Luna and Big Mac in height. But regardless of that it works!
And yes...those horses that are coming up. I feel their somewhat taller than Luna actually. But gotta wait for the episode!

What we did for Sombra was a little tricky. Sombra was only such a role in the episodes, he was never stood alongside or near ponies. Since Sombra was seen in the castle out of the balcony we happen to have resources of Cadance and Shining Armor standing where Sombra once had, in the past. We went based where the couple stood at the balcony and the railings, and where Sombra stood in the same placement. I'd like to think it's pretty accurate, for the little we know.

We don't have much detail on the horses yet, apart from standing alongside Celestia. But this is a height chart based on one of my projects. Towards a story I'm writing.
