Description A bit of a different track here, but how could I neglect these two major players in the War of Light? I knew from the beginning I would want to draw Ion and Parallax and that they would both probably be the same person.

So I asked myself, who would work well for these? The answer came without hesitation: Dfaran.
Why does he work so well? It might have something to do with that iconic dark mage look, or maybe pineapple.

Either way, this image is chocked full of homage. The armor on Ion is my tribute to both Alan Scott and Alex Ross. The pose on Parallax is directly taken from his first appearance in Emerald Twilight, and is seen again in a panel of Rebirth. And the face on Parallax? Well, you might recognize that as the emblem of Disturbed, who's song "The Night," I've always thought of as a good theme for Parallax.

Really, this image is just me having a lot of fun with the War of Light, and I should get back to the individual Corps soon...but I may go off on a tangent before I do.

Thanks muchly. And in order to get the ring, all you need is to be fearless and honest. For the green, that is. And as for the sword, it's actually 3D. I don't know if you can really tell, but I modeled it in Cinema 4D

It takes courage to face a dragon in combat, but only the truly brave sit down with it and discuss its problems. u_u

I think it's the pineapple. That's definitely a pineapple-colored glow on Parallax.
Anyway... this is awesome.

Also, I may have mentioned that I've never actually read Green Lantern, and I am feeling more and more that I ought to do so. This being the case, which one or ones should I read first?

Tough call. You'll pretty much hear the origin over and over... but I'd start with the original anyway. GL Chronicles I, GL Archives or Emerald Dawn I&II should do well. I am inclined to go with Emerald Dawn, since that one has more of Sinestro's modern background in it. Next, I would read Green Lantern/Green Arrow, since that's pretty much where the series gained more personality. Next you can skip to Emerald Twilight + New Dawn, for the all-important fall of Hal Jordan. From the Kyle Rayner years, there's a lot of important stuff, but I'd read Power of Ion and Brother's Keeper, at least... though it shall be confusing. I'd also read In Brightest Day, but that doesn't go anywhere in particular. Next, Green Lantern Rebirth, followed by anything from the current run of GL or GL corps. You can pretty much full in any gaps with Wikipedia, even if you can't find all of those trades.

If nothing else, you MUST seek out all of the stories written by Alan Moore, but that goes without saying.
