This is the second-to-last commission from the giant slot set I took on at the start of January. These are two of the main characters at the end of the commissioner's novel, not quite walking off into the sunset, but close enough. (This commissioner stole my kidney; I'm allowed to be sassy. )

"You're cheating! You can't have both of them facing the other direction!"
"It's literally what the commissioner asked for."
"But you're being lazy by hiding their faces!"
"They asked for exactly this. I'm not hiding anything; I'm drawing what they asked for."
"But the hands are mostly hidden, too! You're just avoiding drawing all the hard parts!"
"IT'S LITERALLY WHAT THEY ASKED FOR."
"..."
"..."
"But you're cheat-"
"OH COME ON"
Brains can be silly sometimes.

Anyway, it's been a while since I've done a fully foliaged background, and even longer since I played around with dappled lighting (I considered adding some to their shoulders but then knew I'd have to add it to their hair and that would make things REALLY confusing, so I left it). Everything feels a little too single-toned to me, but the references I was using had the different leaves and sky all in one tone just with different hues, so if anything there's too much tonal variation.

The new scanner handle this beautifully.

Done with Copic markers and Polychromos on Strathmore marker paper.
