Description
Earth9x12 on Strathmore paper
(Pattern Used: McCalls 2447)
This one came together a lot faster than I thought it would, all things considered. Also managed to kill off Cool Grey 2 of the Promarkers.
Good thing about clouds: "Awesome, I was able to cover that mistake!"
Bad thing about clouds: "OH NO, I COVERED THAT PART I WAS PROUD OF!"
Guess my hands aren't cumulonimble enough to keep up with what my brain wants.
Decided to go with the standard black night sky instead of trying more galaxy nonsense. While I knew it wasn't one I'd be doing often, I figured I should include it at least once. *Only considered midway through colouring that I could have included the moon*
My Magician's Companion didn't have much to offer for Earth since we're nestled pretty boringly on top of it, so instead I focused on the aspects that it doesn't share with the other planets: flora (birch bark shirt and wood grain book), fauna (birbs, chameleon, and the jellyfish brocade), and a recorded history (the book itself). I threw the moon in for the tie, because why not.
I'll admit that this pattern was not the best choice. The sleeves were fantastic to work with! As for the base vest, though, it was VERY flat in regards to shading. There was almost nothing to work with. I should have taken that into account before selecting it, but I was all eyes for those sleeves, so I thought it would be fine. My bad.
One of the things that wasn't the goal of the series but I'd still like to get better at is adding dimension to the mouths instead of them being just a line. For Mercury that was an utter fail (I had no idea what I was doing). Checked some references by artists I liked. Venus went far better. Earth now is...a step back from Venus, but better than Mercury. We'll get there.
(I know the sun is wonky I tried something and it looked horrible and I tried to cover it up and it ALSO looked horrible and this is the cover up of the cover up I can only do so much with my mistakes you should see my social life)
Done with Promarkers and Prismacolor Brush Markers with some Gellyroll, acrylic ink, and pencil crayon (all white) thrown in.
Next up: Mars

I was just browsing your gallery (it's how I thank people I don't know for favouriting my art) and noticed this cool planet series of yours... and the sleeves on Earth just blew me away. XD The birch-pattern is very well done and recognizable even at a glance, and the folds are just plain fun to look at.
Space is a wonderful subject for art and I love a good series of themed pictures, so you've got a really solid idea here and executed it very well. Nicely done!

... Keeps getting more and more impressive, M8. Especially the folds in fabric, and how vibrantly dynamic the animals are. That chameleon looks as if it's staring through the screen at me! >):^D

Thank you! Animals are one of my (many) weak points, so I'm trying to include a couple here and there more frequently to get some practice in.
