Description Inspired from 's My drawing Progress , I decided to post my own drawing process as well. I posted how I color... but never how I draw.

The way I draw is more similar to an animator, it's built for speed. I mind less on the error when I draw, but use daily sketching, common sense and study to rule out errors. I find that to be more liberating for my drawing. So when I draw, or sketch out storyline for a manga, I just get the ideas out quickly.

I don't write for my manga. I draw them right away, like how they are in my mind. Words are secondary.

you read other people's comments? Go you. Study.

I don't mind critiquing your work, if you want it so.
I think I am a natural born teacher, teaching is my part time job now.

...so, you don't even draw the panels to begin with...what an incredible concept...I think that will help me immensely...at least I'm definitely going to have to try it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to Obi-quiet [2008-10-03 16:59:57 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i prefer to just focus on the story and the drawing for the start, and think about design elements on the page later.

It's just something that never even crossed my mind...I'm still kind of blown away by it.

I used to do panels first, and it turns out pretty restricting,
so I later just developed my own way to stay out of the box before I make one. lol~
Thanks for the watch btw.

wow..I wish I could sketch like that. I'm still sketching cylinders and cubes for body parts. It doesn't make me very loose though. Any tips on that?

Nice, I was wondering, I have all these pages of my manga in pencil, should I scan it with gray scale and edit it on photoshop??? or do you think photo is better? (I have no experience with photoshop...)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to kuukan [2006-07-18 01:31:47 +0000 UTC]

Scaned images would work better than photograph because the lighting is more controled.

Shintei-chan In reply to mayshing [2006-02-05 16:17:57 +0000 UTC]

great...
how come it takes so long?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mayshing In reply to Shintei-chan [2006-02-05 21:37:36 +0000 UTC]

because I love to give myself more than I can handle. XD I am still doing Edepth, portfolio pieces, sketching storylines for series, running the online hospital, on top of that trying to make short series to send to a magazine.
And this one is a 60 page manga, all in illustrative quality, it will take longer.

Thanks for posting this, I love artist "progressions", very informative. There's an appealing dynamism(?) even in your roughs that I like perhaps even a little more than the final manga.

Ah, quick sketches, I need to get back to that. 5 min poses man, bingo bango, next!

this is such a good idea. i like this a lot, i didn't realise how rough some of the manga can look without inhancments. i draw in a similar way, though it proberly isn't shown in my work.

it shows how you work the rough out.... maybe i will make it similar with my stuffs.....

thx dear for that kind of information!

Wow what a process from the rough sketches of the comic to the finished page.
I usually eat like 3 rough pages before I find a layout I like for my comic

speedy drawings ey? I'll have to assimilate that more often when I draw my comics and my works, most times I'm to picky about how it looks even when I'm just drawing the sketleton of the figure DX that makese me sad when most of the time is spend on how the skeleton looks. I do like that you show how you go from Rouch > sketch > Finished, it acutally gives me a good idea of how I can avoid being so picky with my sketchings 👍: 0 ⏩: 0

1337m3 [2006-02-03 04:07:44 +0000 UTC]

I still don't get how people can do this...and I see a lot of these on da....Great job! And I agree. It's frustrating if you have this really good idea but don't have the materials. Then when you finally get it, you forget 0_0;
