If for some reason you do have the money to get it this week, I can pack it with the werewolf you bought. No worries though, if you can't now I'll hold onto it for you

Well, if things change send me a note . I'm poor too...currently looking for at least something part time because freelance art is too hit and miss.

This is really fantastic! The amount of detail packed into the little guy is insane. You got him looking incredibly realistic! The clear coat that you used overtop makes him look a bit wet, which so works for the Licker because it adds to the "horror" of the creature.
Awesome work, Angela.

Very cool.
What sort of paints do you use?

Thanks!
I've just been using acrylics with varnish to seal them. I'd like to invest in some of the paints they use for Warhammer an such, try those out...but I just haven't had the money and acrylics get the job done well. The main drawback is I can't get paint jobs as durable as I'd like.

Cool. The "warhammer" paints are what I use for most of my stuff. I find a thick undercoat really improves the durability if that's of any help.
How do you get the claws looking the way they do? I have trouble getting the right shine on that sort of thing.

Meadowknight In reply to annoyinglizardvoice [2010-03-23 02:52:40 +0000 UTC]
I use some shading tricks and metallic paints, and also use pearl. For the licker, I painted the claws and any bony parts using a pale gray, then added a touch of pearl. Sometimes I'll do the same thing using bright white on top of the gray. Metallics and pearl are great for adding shine, but I'm not sure if they have those colors/paints in the Warhammer type brands. Like, I used some metallic red and pink on the licker here and there..and I used a touch of pearl on the brain.

Thanks for explaining, I'll have to try using grey rather than brown as my start-point when next painting something like that.
I'll probably have to try to mix pearl and metalic red/pint though (no-where I know of seems to do those).

There are no words I can use to describe how cool this thing looks.
I love it! The details are so intricate, and you put so much work into it! No wonder it's the only one of it's kind right now! Only two inches long and I want to be terrified by it but also want it in my home.
Strange. I never thought I'd want a Licker in my house.

Lol, thanks for the kind compliments!
I have about three of these I'll be painting over the weekend so they're ready to ship in case anyone buys one in the next few days. I paint this sorta thing in small batches, lol...takes sooo long.

I could only imagine! I don't have the time to sit down and do what you're doing considering I am getting my butt kicked at work, but boy it's worth it to see how lovely the finished product turned out. Heck even before you painted it, it looked stunning.
I may have to buy myself one, but unfortunately I don't have the money this month. I will certainly keep an eye out for them!
