Demons continued fleeing, but the scope of the disaster embodied by Clere made it an excercise in futility. Most merely ran or flew away from Clere's hungry mouth in a random direction, inevitably failing as Clere's growth overtook them eventually. A small number of more powerful demons fled hell entirely, using portals to take them to the mortal plane. Like fish fleeing a pond they flopped into the realm of the living, skin burning as reality itself rejected them. Still, it was better than being eaten. Groups of lesser demons chased after them, guided by nothing more than the fact that the portal lay before them, and Clere behind them. As they ran, a pair of immense jaws pushed its way through hell behind them, scraping the surface off hell, sideways, stretching hell to its limits.
