Description
This is another of the 4 different species I found in one spot recently and by far the largest. I was inspecting some fallen oak tree and this guy was sitting on a blade of grass right next to it. It's Ropalopus femoratus and while it's not protected or on the red list, it's not common by any stretch. I should mention it could be easily mistaken for Ropalopus varini, which looks almost identical, but that one has its thighs all red. Also it's currently picture of the day on Biolib.cz in case anyone's interested.
Anyway, plans for this summer- get photo of stag beetle, get the Sinodendron cylindricum, get Aegosoma scabricorne, Tragosoma depsarium (I can almost guarantee this one won't happen), get Ropalopus ungaricus (also probably not gonna happen, but who knows).
