Description
The idea: This is my first completed color face portrait. The model here was actually Leelee Sobieski. The girl from the Glass House. I was a fan of her during my first year summer vacation because I was so impressed by how she played the character of Joan of Arc in the CBS mini-series that aired that time in AXN. I searched the net for pics of her and came across one which for me captured her essence while retaining simplicity and had good symmetry. I drew that and changed some features and shades which made it looked kinda exaggerated like in the original, the shades of red were very prominent so I kinda reduced that and gave more emphasis in flesh so it wiuld look more natural. Honestly, I don't think I can do another one of this caliber because I don't get to practice drawing now in med school and I'm afraid my skills have deteriorated alreadyThe history: I consider this one as my "birthday gift" for myself because I drew this one on June 4, 2005; my 18th birthday.

This looks really fantastic- and I was right about who it was. Although I have to say I haven't seen much of her work. I love Faber-Castell, they are so much better than prisma's. Fantastic.

Wow thank you. Actually I haven't tried Prisma yet 'coz I can't find one in my place I'd like to try them too if I could just get my hands on them. :-D
It's such an honor to hear a compliment from a superb artist like you. Thanks a lot.

Oh, I have a ton of Prisma's- mostly because when I was a kid I didn't know about art stores, so I got them the local store (at least they're better than crayolas)- and they just kinda hung around over the years. I guess they're okay, I mean i think I'd prefer the Faber's though. I also have some of the Prisma markers, but with those your better off with a old dried out permanent. They're that bad. I haven't tried Copics, but so far I like La Plumes. Actually I have a few things in my gallery made with those.
Really you think so? Thank you so much! and of course you're welcome.

Thanks. Um, I usually use Faber-Castell Watercolor pencils as I did here.

This really looks great, I am trying to do color pencil portraits right now and I hope it might look close to as good as your drawing here.
