my friend wanted to know how i painted grass that could actually look like it was part of a piece without my help so here you go.if you don't like the way i draw grass, then lol find another tutorial. this is just my personal method that works very well with my style and maybe you could develop your own way of painting it by reading through this.
i tried not to make it text heavy, and hopefully it's understandable.
program used was SAI Painter but you could probably apply this with anything, and yes, this includes MSPaint.

This tutorial is really useful! I had problem with my comics grass, I didn't want it to bee too sharply done but not too blurry either, so this was a perfect combination! Thank you for sharing your techniques with us

Hmm... I've been noticing grass in anime recently. This looks similar to it (and I like anime grass), so maybe it'll help me a little next time I want to draw some grass. ^_^

a quick question though, if you dont have the marker tool (or sai painter,) could you use the smudge tool in photoshop?

smudging is kind of optional since this method can be used with pure pixels too.
