Description I created this piece for 's Deep Blue contest.  Definitely check it out - they have contests every month with great artists who participate.

So for this piece, I really wanted to capture the different colors of the ocean - I used to live in Florida actually, and I always remember how much brighter and more colorful it was underwater than on land.  Hopefully I was able to capture that in the painting.    Definitely let me know what you guys think!!  I'm thinking of making this into a full zodiac series.

This is awesome--how did you go in the contest?  The colors are gorgeous. I used to snorkel/dive when I lived in NZ, I know what you mean by the bright colors underwater

Oh my goshh I absolutely the adore the colors in this. You blended the warmth of the koi with the blues of the water really well in the hair and the whole piece is so bright!

Your stuff gets better and better every time i see it <3 I'm in love, honestly. I wish I could live in the colors on this piece, great job! Was she supposed to appear to be underwater? because if so I would have tried to float the hair a bit more but if its more a celestial kind of water then you captured the look magnificently.

Once I like the color for sure - but I also love the painterly feel the image has and how you managed the transitions of the colors like from the purplish blue to the yellow orange on her neck.

I would have maybe tried to soften the edge of her hair a bit - like its floating in water ... or fall off faster (don't know really how to explain).... 

Anyway - good luck for the contest - the piece is really beautiful.

Thank you so much!!!  I'm so glad to be posting more again too- my tablet had actually died last month, so that's why I've been awol, but luckily I got a new one for graduation.    Autodesk IS REALLY HARD, honestly I didn't like it very much at all. It's a biggggg step down from photoshop/even photoshop elements.  But hey, I guess its free, so there's that.    Thanks again!!

Thanks!  <3  Yeah I did!  Most of it anyway - for the contest, they said you were allowed to use it in combination with other tools, so I painted most of it in sketchbook and then did the detailing and color editing in photoshop.
