Description
Yeah I'm still a little bit obsessed with Korrasami.Sidenote: I know I'm not great at digital art, but I'm trying to learn...the hardest part for me is keeping my style though. For some reason, as soon as I go digital, I end up using flat colors and weird vector-y coloring. I know how to do all these things, but it's like my brain blocks it all off as soon as I pick up a tablet. If you guys have any good suggestions or resources for me, PLEASE let me know. I really want to improve.

I really love both styles. This one is cute, fun, and playful. The other is more realistic, serious, and completely awesome. I could not pick which I like more.

Though I think this is still good for a digital piece, I can totally see a huge difference between your traditional pieces and this piece. Except your traditional pieces seem to go closer to realism and this just seems closer to sketch -> line art and then color (cell-shading style). Though this is also a totally different style and going for more of an anime look. Unless you were specifically trying out a style a bit closer to cell-shading, if you're comparing it to your more traditional pieces, it seems as though you are limiting yourself a bit more to stay within the lines than you do with your traditional work which may make the lights and shadows appear a bit flatter? (which you do so well traditionally). You also definitely have more flow and movement in your traditional pieces but I don't really have much I can say on that matter because my pieces also come out looking A LOT stiffer when I sketch digitally than when I do traditionally. If you find out ANY helpful tips on that last one, I would love to know it
I wish you good luck! I have no doubt that you're going to be great because judging by your traditional pieces, you're already there

No problem
I think that because of this, I might start with a loose pencil sketch, scan it and then work on it digitally. Have you tried that?
Definitely not alone on this

This style is nice, but I get the feeling that its not really what you were going for. If that's not the case then just ignore that last part, but if there was something you were going for then can you give an example of what you wanted it too look like?

I'm not even really sure??? I don't know, I wanted it to have a little more of that illustrative whimsical feeling from Jorinde and Joringel, Jack and the Beanstalk, etc.

I think I know what you are going for. Are you using a pen tablet with a screen on it, or are you staring at a monitor?

Sorry for the late reply, try drawing in greyscale First. It will get you used to digital shading faster. Then when you have gotten better, there are many tips and tricks to add color to greyscale images Using layer styles, overlays, or even simple paint overs. If it helps, you usually start with shadows in traditional art and work your way to lighter colors by smudges/blending. In digital art, try drawing with a neutral color in the BG like gray, and drawing in lighter shades. Then gradually work your way to darker shades. If you don't like that try using darker shades and work your way to lighter shades like normal. If you need a more specific example, check out this brief tutorial by Omar Dogan.

If you are still having trouble then I could get a better idea of what's ailing you if you did a livestream session or YouTube recording and showed us what you were having trouble with.

This is truly fantastic. I don't think I know any of these characters but I have to say they make such a cute and loving/affectionate couple. And the background as well as the details are gorgeous.
