Third Degree is probably an excellent weapon choice for a pryo, since not only it gives damage to large bots, but also the medics healing that specific bot.

Sadly it's not. Just like it was mentioned earlier in comments - MvM pyro is not supossed to deal that much damage, unless it's a matter of dealing with tanks.
It's required for pyro to have a homewrecker or neon annihilator to take off sappers when engineers are dead.

DearMrUnicorn In reply to Menaria [2013-08-17 09:42:23 +0000 UTC]

also, in case you either get a good sniper or a scout that throws mad milk on the target, it would still count as a wet target and get 100% crit from the neon but stay support, thats the best for a pyro to do in my own opnion.
ps. Thats also what I get complimented for while playing as a pyro.

Personally, for MVM medic, I like using The overdose for the speed boost since you won't really be fighting with it, the kritzkreig so more damage can be dealt with things like tanks and giants, in which uber I feel would be less useful, and ubersaw, just in case. Although I'm curious if there's anything else I should be using, even though my team get's on fine.

Menaria In reply to CreeperT [2013-08-08 08:57:30 +0000 UTC]

The equipment by itself is a very good choice, but there are VERY STRICT rules about medic. In general Medic is "banned" on most of the battlefields, except for Expert Decoy and only if there is a demoman in the team.

CreeperT In reply to Menaria [2013-08-08 09:02:20 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, quite interesting indeed. Annoying too since I LOVE playing medic >~< (As if it wasn't obvious from my icon)

Menaria In reply to CreeperT [2013-08-08 09:13:17 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I like it too, but rules are rules sadly.
... But always i can roll as Medic on Gravel Pit!

CreeperT In reply to Menaria [2013-08-08 09:17:49 +0000 UTC]

True~ Medic is so under-rated

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Menaria In reply to CreeperT [2013-08-08 09:30:36 +0000 UTC]

Eh, not really. If I would chose between medic or additional person to hold the front, I'd definitely go for the second option.

CreeperT In reply to Menaria [2013-08-08 09:56:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but it's so annoying to hear people say "MEDIK IS SUPER IMPORTANT" yet majority of the time they're not the ones who play medic.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Menaria In reply to CreeperT [2013-08-08 11:01:15 +0000 UTC]

the same goes to Scout on MvM. Everybody needs, nobody plays.

CreeperT In reply to Menaria [2013-08-08 11:02:27 +0000 UTC]

Annoying ain't it? If it's so important people, stop being the 6th engineer on the team and switch!

I one played with a heavy using a Huo-Long Heater, a Steak sandwich, and The Eviction Notice.

This was in mann up mode...I don't even...

I have one rule, private - I tell them to change equipment 3 times and if they don't respond, I just kick them out from the battlefield.

It may be worth to use the sandman in the late waves against giant heavys so they don´t wreck you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Menaria In reply to applejackforever [2013-08-08 07:44:13 +0000 UTC]

Nothing will wreck you as long as you don't run straight at the giants, private.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

applejackforever In reply to Menaria [2013-08-12 21:51:30 +0000 UTC]

but in order to mark with the fan O war you HAVE to run straight up them, i know this can be done if the heavy locks onto something else, but sometimes there are two of them. Just saying that the sandman does have a place in mvm

MemeHunter [2013-08-07 19:52:21 +0000 UTC]

What do you think about the Default scatter gun? ( Also loving this! I have played TF2 for a while and I am not F2P. I had thought that the sandman was a good choice for marking but I can see that I was wrong. so good job!)

Primary weapon for scout is a choice of every mercenary. There are equal advantages and disadvantages for every Scattergun, except for Shortstop and Face Blaster. These weapons simply can NOT be accepted on the battlefield.
... But as you see from all the available primary weapons I recommend Force-a-nature.

Yanzoo606 In reply to ??? [2013-08-07 17:16:40 +0000 UTC]

I play with pyro using Backburner, to just give more damage to bomb carriers, the stock shotgun and the Axtinguisher. Somehow this is the equipment I play better, is it good?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Menaria In reply to Yanzoo606 [2013-08-07 17:47:52 +0000 UTC]

Negatory. Pyro's job is to push the bomb, not to deal a massive damage, unless you deal with a tank. Backburner makes airblast consume much more ammo than usually.
There is no half-solutions on the battlefield. If you want to support team - use default flame thrower with airblast upgrade. If you want to deal massive damage - use Phlogistinator.
I have no objections to secondary weapon, but your mele weapon needs to be changed as well. You should carry Homewrecker or Neon Annihilator to help Engineers with sappers when they got backstabbed.

Yanzoo606 In reply to Menaria [2013-08-07 18:19:39 +0000 UTC]

Tested it, did the worse job in all team... Wonder why...

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

DearMrUnicorn In reply to Yanzoo606 [2013-08-08 12:58:25 +0000 UTC]

The reason why you did a bad job as pyro while useing the default FT is because you're simply not cut out to be a pyro on MvM then? as Menaria said, the only thing to deal dmg as pyro on MvM is though Phlog, and since that gun got nerfed theres no reason to use it anymore, therefor you should stay on standart FT! lern how to airblast correctly and aim with it, I myself trained in a dodgeball server. It really helped me improve everything on my pyro! (fyi, you only have standart FT there) soo, yeah, stop complaining, get some skills by trying again and again till you get it right I get praised for my pyro work by guys who have over 100 tours in every map. and im still lerning. so take your time!

UsernameMaker In reply to Yanzoo606 [2013-08-08 01:12:27 +0000 UTC]

You are a support class, not a damage dealer. You are not supposed to get points, only help the team. Every point he made was correct.

uberfrill14 In reply to ??? [2013-08-07 16:26:35 +0000 UTC]

In MvM, I usually use the Stock Minigun or the Brass Beast for primary, Sandvich for my secondary, and the Gloves of Running Urgently, just in case I need to catch up with a bomb carrier that may have gotten past my team. Did I do good?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Menaria In reply to uberfrill14 [2013-08-07 16:57:44 +0000 UTC]

Yes, this is a very good equipment, private! I recommend it by myself.

ThatM0useGuy In reply to ??? [2013-08-07 14:23:06 +0000 UTC]

I've heard of one strategy of using the Sun-on-a-Stick with an active pyro on your team, and in a clutch game standing over the bomb-drop site and just holding down the mouse button while the robots come to you, ignited by the previously mentioned pyro.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Menaria In reply to ThatM0useGuy [2013-08-07 14:26:18 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like a very fragile strategy, especially since Pyro's main job is to push bomb carrier. Actually MvM pyro uses his flame rarely, since he needs to stay away from front in order to stay alive. We all know how easily pyro dies.

DaklozeDuif In reply to ??? [2013-08-07 09:43:33 +0000 UTC]

Also, while I do think the FanoWar is the best choice...

Can't the Sandman mark MULTIPLE enemies for Death?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Menaria In reply to DaklozeDuif [2013-08-07 11:38:13 +0000 UTC]

You can mark only one enemy at time, no matter if it's fan-o-war or Sandman.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Mrnaterminator In reply to DaklozeDuif [2013-08-07 11:28:25 +0000 UTC]

So can the fan of war. The sandman costs money to get mark and then you need money for more balls to mark more, while fan of war is unlimited marking by hitting people.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DaklozeDuif In reply to Mrnaterminator [2013-08-07 20:58:43 +0000 UTC]

Nope, Fan o War can only mark one.

And you don't have to buy more balls, you can just whack em with the bat after buying the upgrade.

Go to melee and look at the last upgrade it clearly says "Balls mark target"

Nope, the bat does it too after you buy the upgrade.

Try it out.

If the Shortstop's healing bonus works with MvM money, then that could pretty viable to.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Menaria In reply to DaklozeDuif [2013-08-07 11:38:01 +0000 UTC]

Well it does not work this way. It's more like a health boost than actual healing.

will you be doing engineer? because this is brilliant

*chuckle* I'll make a training for every maggot in the team, private.

Ethosaur In reply to ??? [2013-08-06 22:14:25 +0000 UTC]

I also enjoy using soda popper in mvm as a scout, just as good for clearing out medics too AND getting some extra crits on the tanks.

Force-a-nature is a gun that I recommend, but almost any other will do if used correctly.

What about the Medic? I don't think there's much to be said but I use the Stock Medigun, the Overdose and the Übersaw, but the real problem are my Teammates :/

General! What about the pyro? My loadout is the stock flamethrower, shotgun, and Homewrecker!

Menaria In reply to Teshyr-Menessi [2013-08-06 19:54:03 +0000 UTC]

Serving as pyro on the battlefield is more complicated than most people might think.
*rubs chin* Hmm. Probably I am going to make another training especially for it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Teshyr-Menessi In reply to Menaria [2013-08-06 19:57:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks General! And what I do in MvM is my best. Airblast, destroying sappers and spy checking. Taking on a tank was easy before...stupid phlog patch...and it is rather easy to separate medics and airblast projectiles from giants.
