Description
I had a christmas commission to draw a raven... but somehow there was lacking somethingThe first picture of mine totally in digital media. It still feels like cheating... otherwise it would have taken two or three times the work to do it.
The first raven was painted on Aiptek HP tablet; the second raven and the branch are stock [link] [link]
More cheating...
Why a green sky? I don't have a clue. I just had to do it that way!
Thanx for looking.

The definitive view of the brothers, and against the skies between as well. Simply stunning.

Interesting. The backdrop has a watercolor kind of effect.

I aimed for that, but it comes out best in the background.

Pardon my ignorance, but are Hugin and Munin a part of a real religion? I've only ever heard of them in the FaceBook apps RavenWood Fair and RavenSky City.

Yes they are. They are part of the old Norse religion of the Germanic people, including great parts of northern Europe and all of Scandinavia. You might try to research Odin, Edda, and Asatru, the modern reinterpretation of that faith.

A green sky similar to that, at least in midwest USA, usually means weather ripe for a tornado and in fact can mean one has brewed nearby. So when I look at this I'm reminded of the ominous stages of spring when the warm air rolls in from the south. I see a story there with the raven circling in anticipation of what that weather could leave behind, and the other perhaps older and wiser waiting more patiently behind. Excellent eye flow as well! Love the way the branches add to that. digital cheating? nah.. just another tool to help portray the look that the artist wants to achieve. :0)

This is gorgeous. I really like the effect of the green sky: it really brings out some beautiful details in the ravens and branch. Also, what a seamless incorporation of art and stock! I love it.

I just learned the girl I drew the original for just loves green. It's her favourite colour and she adores the picture.
Whatever...
Thanx a lot
