I'm having a serious case of art-block, so I thought I'd get this unfinished disaster out of the closet and brush off the cobwebs... needless to say - I'm actually pretty happy with the way this character turned out... ;u;
Ladies and gents - meet a totally original character/story concept; meet Kage.

Character Profile

Name: Kage Pronounces: ‘Kah - gay’
Name Meaning: ‘Shadow’
**Kage was given his name by a Mysterious traveler from the East. After learning it‘s meaning and the reason for why the stranger called him such - Kage deemed that he liked the name and kept it.
Gender: Male
Height: 12’ 3”
Length: 26’ 2”
Weight: Approx. 2,110-lbs.
Age: 1,329 years
Species: Dragon / Dracolich

Abilities/Skills:
• Uses the shadows casted by objects to teleport from one location to another instantaneously - but can only do so baring that the entry/exit-shadow(s) are within sight.
• Uses telepathy to communicate.
• Has the ability to use mind-control - but only on those who are mentally weak. (Does not use this ability often as it tends to weaken him.)
• Can manipulate the fire in his chest to act as a shield as well as a projectile.
• By consuming the souls of evil spirits , and trapping them in the hellfire of his chest; Kage draws his strength and power.
• Can evaporate into a ‘smoke-like’ vapor and pass through otherwise impregnable openings with ease.
• Thanks to his 'evaporating' skills, Kage can transform/shrink into a small black/smoky 'Chibi' like dragon - making it easy for him to be able to fit in bags, purses, back-packs etc.

*Full moons at night cast more shadows even among the darkness - and the clear skies aid in navigating the stars to bring needing souls home.
Weaknesses: Water, Direct-Sunlight, Holy-Land
*Being impure and dark - Kage is not permitted to break upon holy land without suffering irreparably.
Personality: Stoic, Reserved, Passive, Cunning, Witty, Quiet, Protective, Peremptory, Persistent, Argumentative, Hot-Tempered
**Words used by others to describe him: Sentinel, Protector, Guardian, Gatekeeper, Grim.
Likes: Flying during clear summer nights, chewing on chunks of brimstone, the sound of thunder, warm blankets
Dislikes: Noise, crowds, talkative kids, water, being called cute.

Bio: At one time, thousands of years ago in the lands of Welsh folk- Kage was what most would consider a ‘normal’ fire-breathing dragon . He was revered by many for his might and his loyalty to the knights of the crown. But in an epic battle between the Briton and Saxon forces - Kage faced a formidable opponent.; a being known only as “The Necromancer.”

Being unable to defeat or overpower this foe who conjured his powers and black magic from the dead, Kage fled; abandoning his King and the knights who served him.

The King died in that battle. As did many of his knights.

When Kage finally returned to face those from which he fled, he was branded a coward and traitor. As punishment for his cowardice (among other things) an ancient sorcerer placed upon him a terrible curse. In a cruel twist of irony, the sorcerer made Kage become the physical product of an evil that would undoubtedly follow should The Necromancer be allowed to continue.
After bearing witness to the true monstrosity that he had become - Kage begged and pleaded with the Sorcerer to undo the curse put upon him. But when it was clear that the curse could not be undone - he begged for death. But in the eyes of the enraged, grieving sorcerer - death was a kindness that Kage didn’t deserve. Instead, he would receive an existence that was neither life nor death.

The sorcerer died shortly after that - leaving in his wake a void.

Blinded with a grief and rage of his own, Kage turned away from the world - fueled only by rage and the desire for vengeance against The Necromancer. But then, it a rare twist of fate - a humble witch offered him a chance at redemption. She explained that in following the path of rage, greed and vengeance that the curse placed upon him would only further consume him - but if he instead chose a righteous path, he could be saved. for even though the curse had affected his physical form; his soul was still in tact...and if he continued down a destructive path, that too would eventually be lost. If he desired redemption and a secured place in the heavens among the knights he failed as well as his fellow dragons - he needed to prove himself worthy. It was then, with a counter spell, that the witch bestowed his new purpose: To guide lost souls on their journey to the other side. To aid tormented souls in finding peace, and to eradicate the evil spirits from the land of the living. Only by doing this task would he be deemed worthy of forgiveness.

The witch added that Kage must do this task given to him for 1,000 years. Only then would a descendant of the sorcerer be born into this world with the power to undo the curse put upon him.

It has been 1,000 years - and the date is 2018 A.D.

The world has changed drastically since the time of knights and castles. But even still Kage endures - ever vigilant in his responsibilities. Only now his waiting is done; and somewhere hidden among the people of the metropolis “Carson City” - is his savior. But little did he suspect that his ‘savior’ would be a 19-year old girl named Mira. Who - added - doesn't believe in magic - let alone know it.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the bowels of the city, The Necromancer too has endured...waiting for this same day - why...no one knows.

Can Mira learn magic before it’s too late? Only time will tell...
