Yes - he's a land-based Predacon. Something rather strange for a Predacon actually. But considering his creator and half-sister are land based too - it's not THAT strange. ;]

I haven't seen many land-based Predacons myself, but Skip looks wonderful! I love his muzzle, that's such a unique shape and it gives him a nice profile!

Gahh I love his design! A lot of times I have trouble coming up with original head designs for Predacons, and Skip's looks awesome.

I think I nearly pulled all my hair out (twice!) while trying to come up with a design concept for SkipShot's Beast form!
Grant it - I did kind of take note of some design points for his hands and legs from Predaking, Skylynx, and Darksteel - but at the same time, I tried to change/add/come-up-with-on-my-own as much as I could to make SkipShot's design different as well as unique.
Oh - and spoiler alert - Echo's nickname for SkipShot is Skippy~ <3 XD

You basically described how I design Predacons. xD Although, sometimes it's easier for me to design Predacons than other Transformers because you can make the pieces like scales on a dragon.

Makes me wanna draw my four Predecon characters, and I have tried before but they never came out right for some reason.

Well - just keep trying~ Eventually you'll get it! Don't worry. ;]
Otherwise - if nothing else - you could always commission another artist to take a crack at it. You'd just have to make sure that you're very specific with how you want your OC to look. ^^
And don't say that! I bet your OCs could be WAAAAAY cooler than SkipShot here~ ^^

So...tell me a little bit about your Predacon OCs - I'm kinda curious~

Well first there's Juju, he kinda looks like a mini version of Predeking, except he's much more friendly, his armor is a bit different, and he only has three legs, one was actually torn off by Predeking. Juju then became close friends with my blind OC Echowave and when both are grown, they have a daughter called SonarSight, who is a perfect mix of the two.
Then theres Stardust, the youngest of my Predecon OCs, she's named after her secret ability, when she twirls the tip of her tail around, the air around her tail shimmers like star dust. She is very shy at times but can be playful too.
And finally Brightwing, a sort of brother figure to Stardust. He's named after his ability. When he flares open his wings, a set of lights near the joints light up very brightly. He is a feisty little guy, and is always trying to pick a fight, even if the opponent is much bigger.
I don't yet have a design done for either of those two, or Juju for that matter.

I've been trying to, it's kinda tricky.
I do know their optic colors though. Juju has yellow, Brightwing has orange, and Stardust has pink.

Lol~ I would imagine that a female Predacon (in some circumstances) would be smaller and a touch skinnier than a male - but there again - that depends on the Predacon.

Well all of mine are based on dragons. . . . actually, not entirely true.
I forgot I actually have two more Predecons, these two are based on griffons.
There's Whirlwind, and her son Twister
so now I gotta figure out their design too

My Predecon OCs only scratch the surface of the collection of Transformers OCs I have. Some have designs already, some don't.
Oddly enough I think only three of them are Cons, and two are neutrals, I think
All the rest are Bots

Three of them are for a pairing I made of one of my OCs and a canon character and one of them is for a pairing where both are canon characters.
The other ones are for OC x OC pairings I made up

Yep, Sunblast and Lunarose have a son called Briarlight.
and EchoWave and Juju have a daughter called SonarSight
funny though, Sunblast and Echo are siblings. Their sister Dynamo, does have a mate but no sparkling yet, just a short tempered Minicon

Maybe you should try establishing your already-existing OCs before you overwhelm yourself with more. Otherwise you're going to be over-run with Predacons.

Flintstrike has to be one of my favorite to do.
Not only does he light up on his arms, he also sprays water
So he has a weapon to use in case he gets annoyed, and he can be seen in darkness
