I think that it was said on one of the earlier pages (By Star Swirl to Twilight in some sort of alternate plane (or something like that) that Harvest had cunningly fixed the Dark Crown so that IT would fool the five OTHER Elements into thinking that IT was the "Real" Element of Magic, so they wouldn't act against it.
And I'm assuming that you're talking about the Elements themselves, and NOT their Bearers, as being to weak there.

Starflare's my favorite character but in this situation, it looks like The main 6 are wasting time fighting him instead of saving Equestria as soon as possible. They aren't thinking logically. It's.... kind of annoying.
Does Twilight even realize what kind of situation this is? If she was the cause of the suffering of so many people, would she let someone else suffer for her sins? Only to feel more guilt as the world is saved, that all the lives that have died, died on her account? She is being oblivious to what's really happening and not grasping the full concept of why it must be him.
