It's all about the HB conte. Doesn't smear like graphite or charcoal. It's tricky to master but I'm sure you're more than capable.

Yes, if and when I find the harder conte, I could probably come up with something capable to do. It just seems unlikely that I'll choose conte over woodworking anytime soon, maybe another art class though...

I'm just glad to see another jack of all trades. Some days I want to draw, others work in wood and if I have the time I go fishing or play golf. All equally valid pursuits in my book

Oh, I understand, except that I will write poetry once a blue moon.

Nothing wrong with poetry. I just happen to suck at it. I'd wager I could kick your ass at trout fishing though

I've only ever caught one fish in my life. That was probably an accident, I'll wager you could beat me too.

You should try it. It's as zen as it gets. 9 times out of 10 I catch and release but when one get's mangled or swallows the hook I cook it up as soon as possible. Surprisingly, serious anglers help conservation because we know how precious the resource is. Not to mention I feel obligated to take a life before I eat it sometimes. Too many people just buy meat at the store and don't really think about the fact that they are eating a sentient life form. When you hunt or fish you are much less likely to take your food for granted

This I realize. Although, I'm not sure we have the same definition of 'sentience'. I respect fish enough not to cause undo harm (never mind I don't really like the taste of fish anyway), but they will never be inventive in my lifetime.

True, fish aren't that bright but we could all agree that some are "smarter" than others but it is all a matter of degree. For instance, dogs can learn to understand human language and there is no doubt in my mind that they can communicate with us. There is something going on in the animal world that goes beyond pure instinct. I could argue that people operate on instinct alone. Until proven wrong I would argue that all living beings have "intelligence".

Understandably.
I'd not like to set black and white impressions on intelligence, and the term 'fish' covers a very wide range of animals. Therefore, I say that fish in general are valuable - but not for their degree of intellect, rather for their more basic functions in their environment.

Oh the wonderful memories of drawing hands in class. Nice job... I could always paint them better than I could draw them.. The source of much instructor frustration.

Nonesense, you have 2 hands. With practice you can do it. Use one to draw the other. I still can't draw my right hand

nice! I like how the one on the top-right seems to be moving quickly backwards. May have been a fluke, but very cool lol
