Description This is the seventh page of a project long-time-in-the-planning, the "chapter 2" sequel to the Rimworld Power Armour Studies I did in the summer of 2020 . Many things came in the way of this project, and after several delays I allowed myself to mostly forget about it until when master Greywind started the Hesters series of commissions. Now, after a long time spent adding details to the semi-fictional colony that would serve as its backdrop, the second chapter of the Power Armour Studies is here, featuring Tiandriel, Imperial Hypatissa and Lady Consul of House Dracondar, and her colony of Eurusium.

Page 7 showcases the Hesters and their armour as examples of power armour suits that drastically depart from the design and classification scheme of imperial EMACS. The text expands upon the Metoverse vision of  Rimworld power armour and human settlement technology levels in general. Note that Tiandriel is doing the narration in this series, unlike Chapter 1 where Bethany was the one describing the suits and Tia was the audience. The Hesters belong to u/WMGreywind , my long-time supporter, commissioner, lore-writing colleague, and friend.

Comic Transcript:
A select number of surfacer factions, especially the more technologically adept, manufacture and deploy armoured suits which depart radically from the design of imperial EMACS. Defying categorisation in the usual Janissary-Marine-Cataphract scheme, these suits bear testimony that human ingenuity is well alive, albeit misguided outside the sacred aegis of the empire. One day we will convince them all to return to the fold.

The armour presented to us by our good friends the Hesters display a most intriguing mix of tactical concerns and aesthetics. They are specialised in infiltration, which implies that they see spacer-tech humans as more of a threat than all the other horrors of the Rim. War never changes, eh?
Reflecting the relative abundance of power sources in a typical surfacer settlement that employs them, surfacer-made power armour are much less power-efficient than equivalent imperial designs. This is one of the reasons why pirates and raiders are so poorly equipped. The power armour they have access to cannot be worn on extended incursions, unlike Janissary armour which are specifically designed for extended campaign use.
