The website is run by someone whose goal is to disprove all the 2012 theories out there using the most valid evidence possible. (see article: "2012- Why It Shouldn't Be Feared) After researching for over a year and reading his newsletter, I've come to realize that 2012 has become a HUGE cash cow.
It's become a tool to instill fear in the general public, and I'm really sick of all this apocalypse crap. I tend to be a realist. Of course, I do believe that unfortunate events will occur leading up to and on that day, but it's due to the course that humans have decided to take as a result of global warming, wars, etc. Everything about galactic alignment/pole shifting/planet X is pretty much all fake, and numerology and Nostradamus are invalid arguments.
My prediction for 2012? People are going to purchase a surplus of food/water, they're going to huddle in a room with their families until the time comes on that date, and after 11:11 passes, we'll SEE THE BIG ASTEROID WHICH WON'T HIT US, and then... nothing. I think it's going to be the start of a new revolution, to be totally honest.
Something we NEED. And something big may happen... but it won't be the end of the physical world or an apocalypse. Don't worry.

Regardless, Global warming is overblown, and the date 2012 is completely insignificant in that matter. Earth used to be on a collision course with an asteroid which was predicted to hit around 2021 (more or less coinciding with another, european prophecy, which was proven fake), but it was already proven that the impact will not happen.
It won't be the start of anything big either. And there will be no revolution (unless you mistake uprising for revolution, and that would be a real shame), which would be the last thing we need at the moment.

I researched it, and 12/21/12 is supposed to be a celebration, not the apocalypse. Also, I was reading an encyclopedia the other year, and It said that the official AD count is off by four years. Therefore, that date passed TWO YEARS AGO!

THANK YOU for saying this. FUNNIEST thing about how everyone's like "THE MAYANS SAID IT WILL HAPPEN DA WORLD IS GONNA ENNNND" is that a friend of mine recently went to Guatemala where some people who are ACTUALLY the ancestors of the Mayans are living (I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't even realize they're still around, which is pretty sad) and THEY are going to be celebrating 2012 - Because according to THEIR traditions it's going to end one era and bring in a new era of peace. Isn't it funny how the American movie business wanted to turn that into the Apocalypse and everyon believes the MOVIE and not the actual ANCESTORS OF THE MAYANS.

Exactly! But then again, we never know for sure when we'll die. It could be today while were sleeping, tomorrow during school, next week while opening Christmas presents, or the next day after New Year's. So there's nothing we can truly do about it but wait. ^-^

There's a number of stories on how the world will end. Problem most people don't understand is, you cannot predict mother nature.
You cannot figure out when an earthquake starts. How can you find out when the world will blow up?
And the Planet X theory is so dumb. I doubt that any planet would hurl towards us as all the planets go in the same direction since time started.
It's just nonsense that the media wanted to play with.

This reminds me of someone mentioning this back when I was in high school. I'm 21 now, I heard this when I was about 17 in my earth science class that the world would end in 2012. I thought they were being serious at first but over time, I figured out for myself that it's nothing more than another Y2K theory that almost occured back at the end of the 90s or somewhere around the 90s era.
Even the movie about 2012, someone from my workplace said it wasn't a big a thrill as it was made out to be.

What a load of bullshit. Seriously, we are NOT going to die. No one can predict the end of the world. Geez...we were all meant to die in the years 1973, 2000, 2006 etc, etc. We are still here people! The end of a calendar is not the end of the world. I think God would be pretty pissed if his entire creation was wiped out because someone forgot to continue their calandar.

the polar shifts do scare me a little but there is a very low chance for that happening. and that in the bible the only one who knows when the world shal end is the holy father or jesus, so if 2012 really was our experation date then he is probly po'ed at us for findin out his secret and has to redate. lolz. People who actually believe this, calling us all "ignorant" and "uneducated" and whatnot, clearly are not respecting that we have done our own research on the subject, and probably not even read the "Mayans: 2012 Isn't The End" article. And the Nostradamus and New World Order stuff is bullshit, also, for several reasons.
Like one other person said, how many apocalypses have we survived? Too many to count, if you ask me! People will believe in any end-time theory, and the disbelievers are always "ignorant". >_>
