Woah, how much time did you spend on this? Amazing! O_O I thought the text was just like Dr. Frankenstein before I read the description. But still.. incredible detail. o_o

This is a very effective piece. The detail in the drawing alone is admirable; it shows you have a tremendous amount of patience. I love how you incorporated the text, and the scratched out words make it particularly effective. The holes and burn marks are an especially nice touch, right down to the left side where the paper would have met the spine. It actually reminds me of a book i have on my shelf called Unicornis, where a supposed manuscript written (i'd have to check the book to tell you exactly when) by a man who has had experiences with unicorns is analyzed. The pages are similar to this and the drawings are lovely, and there's a wonderful companion to the book called Draconis. I'm not sure they're still in print but they're worth taking a look at if you like that sort of thing. Anyway this is a very beautiful piece. I'd buy the print if I wasn't so backed up in bills.

thanks for the wonderful comment... i really tried to make this less of a work of art and more of an actual document that was found... having a sense of realism... i will have look into those books

As comment #110 I doubt you're going to get down to reading this, but the whole piece is absolutely fantastic - first the wonderfully gruesome quality of the artwork, and then the creepy development of the dissector's notes. You've managed to capture the Dr. Frankenstein vibe perfectly.

Damn you, now I'm going to have to go and read that again...

a very beautiful piece of art right here... it just blew me away and i found staring at it for a while... the style of the picture is very well done and the picture of the disection is both bizarre and almost natural...

Though the notes surrounding the image is the best... revealing the story of Francisco Mibigatti... who seems more mysterious than the beast itself... a true story of science and the unknown.... the notes in context of the picture gives it more detail as well as adds to the time and atmosphere... engaging the readers mind and attention... i can talk for ages on how vivid my imagination was thinking about what happened to him after... i can imagine him in a dark room, with the smelling corpse behind him, bent over a desk writting and scribbling away under a dim and eerie light... my theory is that he was driven to insanity and locked himself up with the cut up monster and burned the whole place.. destroying him, the beast... and what he thought.... the volumes of notes/sketches of his study of it....

...stupid not to fav this

ha!.. thats a great interpretation..it most definetly fits...i should write some story behind it... but then again i think ill let the viewers imagination take over ... thank you so much for the great comment and interpretation.

heh, no problem.. and yeah your right... writting a story will only spoonfeed the readers/viewers imagination and sor of destroys the element of mystery

This is truly amazing. The shadowy writing, the parchment, the margins and side-notes, the authentic sounding words ripe with the scent of Lovecraftian feel, all grotesquely perfect. I'm going to have to reverse engineer this into a Dungeons and Dragons creature.

This is quite possibly the coolest thing I've seen on DA since I signed on here. The way you put this piece together is just absolutely stunning. It's really feels like something that could have been found and scanned rather than created from scratch. That's really an accomplishment.

I don't normally coment on thse types of things. Just because I always feel my comment being 40th, or 100th down in the list will be useless. But what the hell, I can alway just give it a shot. I Really like this, and you know even though the drawing is great, my favorite part is the whole life you have created. And I don't mean the creatures. I mean Mr. Mibigatte there. I can just picture this person sitting there pacing with a bloody apron and this dead thing on the table trying to figure out what those little circular things are for. The way you wrote it it seems like he's an internal type of guy. I don't know if you did it on purpose, but it's like he's being tormented inside yet he can still write and control himself perfectly, untill his temper gets the best of him and he starts to cross things out and question his God. To tell you the truth, when I stand back and picture the alien , it's kind of commical, but I tried to just stick to the horrible insides so that it wouldn't get in the way of the feelings. Good work here. Good work.

thank you so much for the lovely comment... as you can see 90% of the comments consist of 7 words or less... so its a pure joy to receive a comment like this... i love hearing peoples interpretations... i tried to tell a story here... but leave enough out for the veiwer to get their imagination going... and you certainly have... i applaud you. In my mind Mibigatte's future is very grim indeed ....thanks again.

This is really awesome! I seriously love the look of old, burned parchment - and you captured it perfectly. This is just amazing, it really does look like a page out of one of those old illustration books - down to the line quality of the "body parts". Did they really come from an old book? Because they certainly look like drawings from an old anatomy book. And the way you placed the parts together is at once amazingly creative and really creepy! Like some bizzare jigsaw puzzle - it almost looks like it was really fun to create. The bright bits of color of the reds and blues of the veins only adds to the eerie feel of it, as though it could be living, beating, breathing.

The font and the words you wrote are a great touch. It reminds me a bit of Jekyll and Hyde almost, the sad, desperate feel to the words. Really awesome stuff! If you don't mind me asking, what font is that and where could I find it? It really looks as though it was scrawled with an ink pen.
