Yes, I am back with another weeklong challenge x'D
April 2 is World Autism Acceptance Day (which is why Autism Awareness Month is seen as April ) and for this reason I've decided to celebrate this year in a bit different way than yesteryear

To everybody who may not know: I am autistic
I have diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at the age of 11 (since last year I've looked at my old papers and yes, I was indeed diagnosed in 2006 aka around me being 11 years old) yet have low support needs in my daily life

You may all have heard the old saying that you write what you know? Well, the same is true for me and my original characters
The next week I'll be drawing a character of mine for each day and describe to you which part of their personality and/or backstory I believe may have been affected by my experiences as an autistic AFAB person

Disclaimer: since I am home for Easter holiday the last five pieces for this week was drawn on the same day (my father I am visiting does not own a scanner x'D)

Today we end the week with Phoenix and the importance of structure

While as we have discussed through this week, all autistic people are different quite a lot have some sort of relationship with structure. It is common that autistic people love having a solid routine and will gladly do the same thing every day. The rationale here is that the structure will bring a predictability to the person's otherwise unpredictable world. Breaking apart from the routine can have very distressing results for the autistic person triggering a meltdown or shutdown especially in younger kids.

Even before Phoenix were put under a coma, born anew as a chimera, they have been very structured to the point of being riigdly so. They can sometimes being seen with up to three armwrist watches since they do not trust one being precise enough. Phoenix hate surprises and things throwing out his schedule which they keep down to every hour of every day. Their need for structure skyrocketted after escaping the lap where they were born experiencing themselves alone and hopeless in a confusing world. In the circus they joined shortly after they were known as the most reliable person to ask for anything related to program, travel time or training schedules.
