Description FINISHED!!!

Finally. I cant believe it took me so long to get an image done. Glinda's dress was really what was keeping me from finishing it. And her crown (which if you look really hard, isnt finished at all, but I'm so done with this image).

I spent entirely too long on this image. Several months, but now it's done and that makes me happy because I dont have to listen to people telling me to finish it. lol

Enjoy!

Edit 10/23/06: This is not a photomanipulation. I have a WIP of this image in my scraps. [link]

I'm glad you like the picture. And dont feel crazy, I've seen Wicked so many times I cant even remember the number (in Hollywood, arguably the best cast currently).

Wow, you've seen it more times than you can count, lucky! So you've seen both
casts then? The first Elphaba I saw was Teal Wicks, and I just saw it with Eden...
omg she's so amazing! I her! I actually like her voice more than Idina Menzel's
blasphamous...no? eek!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

michiruokami In reply to Countessgreenleaf [2008-12-11 02:11:21 +0000 UTC]

Eden was my first Elphaba in NY, and she has been my favorite since.
I've seen Cassie Levy, and she's amazing.
But my favorite to watch and listen to is Teal. I dont think any girl can beat Teal. I like Eden and Teal better than Idina (but I've never seen Idina live so that's not a fair comparison).

I know people who work on Wicked so that's one reason why I see it so much. Also, tickets only being $45 and $25 for the front row raffle has helped.

Speaking of Eden...do you like how Defying Gravity isnt really her big bang song? Like the first act she sounds young and untried. It isnt until No Good Deed that you really hear the power in her voice (compared to the flawless Teal who hits it out of the park the second she opens her mouth). She's just amazing. But I think she was getting sick when I saw her last week because she and Derrick (Fiyero) both cracked once.

Countessgreenleaf In reply to michiruokami [2008-12-11 06:14:04 +0000 UTC]

Ooo, you saw it in NY too! Lucky! Eden is really amazing, and it is true how she
grows and adds strength to her songs as the musical progresses. I like how Teal
sang "As Long as Your Mine" better than Eden, she just had so much more passion
in it, and I love how fiesty she seems at the beginning!
I thought Eden did an amazing job with "Defying Gravity" but then again I haven't
seen Wicked since I saw Teal in...July I think, so it's hard to compare. I wish there
was an album for Teal and Eden, I like the Broadway soundtrack, but Idina has such
a different voice...it isn't is strong when she's not belting out the songs, it's very
little-girl like.
You saw it last week too! Wow, you're so lucky that you know people who work on
Wicked, I bet you're sad it's leaving for SF. I totally splurged and got tickets in row
C last Thursday, eek! When I see it in January for the last time I'll just be in the
Mezzanine. Have you ever gotten to meet them after the show, I heard sometimes
you can get pictures and autographs with them, and since you know people who
work there I bet you could!

michiruokami In reply to Countessgreenleaf [2008-12-11 19:55:01 +0000 UTC]

The first time I ever saw it was in NY, which was right about the time the first national tour started.

You can always compare Teal and Eden on youtube. There are TONS of clips and all are very good. Though I dont think Teal and Eden record well on bootlegs. They're much better live. Also dont read the comments. No one ever has anything nice to say about Teal and Eden. They just complain about how they arent Idina.

I'm SO SO SO SO SO sad that it's leaving for San Fran. All the people I know are scattering! One is going on the 2nd Wicked national tour, some are going to NY, some are going to SF.

Row C?? That's not fair. I'd pay for tickets that nice. I've seen it front row, but row C is a much better row that A.

You're be there for Jan 11th? I'll be there. I cant not see the last show!

Also, you can meet the cast at the backstage door. They take pictures and do autographs and they'll chat with you. It's really nice since most people cant go backstage (and yes I've met them backstage, they're all lovely people, very friendly).

So do all the people you know work on make-up for Wicked? That's so cool
that you've gotten to meet them, maybe I'll do that after my last show, which
sadly isn't Jan. 11, it's the 7th...OMG and then I'll go into withdrawls after that!
Oh well, at least it's not leaving for out of state, SF isn't toooo far away, though
it's so much farther than LA for me, ugg!
I'll go look on youtube for Eden and Teal in Wicked, I saw one of Eden singing "Somewhere
Over the Rainbow," it was beautiful! I wish I could sing, *sigh*

michiruokami In reply to Countessgreenleaf [2008-12-12 18:54:18 +0000 UTC]

There's only 1 person for makeup on Wicked per production (so LA has one, NY has one, Chicago has one, etc). So the answer is, no, not all the people I know work on make-up

You should definately stand at the backdoor! And all the people there are very friendly and most are obsessed too (I warn you to be careful of associating with some women there who are there EVERY night regardless of seeing the show or not. They kind of freak the cast and crew out a bit).

I live in San Diego. The drive to LA is not a problem, it's the drive to SF that sucks!! I went there recently. It was a long drive, but not terrible if you have a driving companion.

Countessgreenleaf In reply to michiruokami [2008-12-12 20:14:41 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I just figured since you were so good at stage make-up you'd be
in with the make-up department, but since that consists of 1 person...wow
that's a lot of work for one person to do, especially since Elphaba needs to
be repainted so often.
So what's with these crazy women who stand at the backdoor even if they
didn't see the show? Are they just strange fangirls...Every night too...wow
I mean, I looooove Wicked, but that's really obsessive!
I guess I'm closer to SF than you, so I shouldn't complain, but still...I live only
an hour away from LA...up in Ventura if you know where that is...but 1 hr as
opposed to 6 hours...ugg...
Ya, you'd totally need someone to help take over driving from San Diego,
that must be like 9 hours...eek

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

michiruokami In reply to Countessgreenleaf [2008-12-14 18:35:16 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I'm in good with the make-up department. All one of them
Also, doing Elphaba's make-up is really easy and really fast once you know how to do it. And I think they only touch her up 4 times in the whole show and mostly it's her hands.

I think you'll know who they are the moment you see them. They give off an energy that is entirely different from the rest of the crowd. If you listen to the actors as they go down the line, you'll know when they've reached an obsessed repeat fan because they'll know them, but the conversation will be the normal 'omg you were so great'. I've always seen them hanging near the back stage gate (big black gate before you walk onto the street).
Oh, haha, and there are some guys who will boast they've seen it 50+ times. They're pretty relaxed compared to the women, but still a little creepy. I havent seen the guys in a long time so maybe they've given up.
I'm not looking forward to seeing them on Jan 11. They'll be in fine form! lol

Oh yeah I know Ventura. I lived in Burbank for a year and I have a friend who lives near Moorpark.

That SF drive is terrible. I usually stop in Manhattan Beach to hang with a friend before continuing on, just because getting through LA is rough.

Haha, you're in with all 1 of them
Okay, I'll totally watch out for the Wicked fantards...I
don't want the cast to think I'm one of them...but *sigh*
to get a picture with Eden would be a dream! Her voice
is just so amaazing! Wow, there's guys that have seen
it over 50 times, wow, that's a lot of money! So are they
guys in love with Elphaba/Glinda or do they just love
musicals? Do you think you've seen it like 20 times or
more?
Ah...I wish I lived closer, I'd totally have you "greenify" me...
eek, I'm not crazy though, promise!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

michiruokami In reply to Countessgreenleaf [2008-12-17 18:06:44 +0000 UTC]

Yup, all 1 of them. Doesnt mean I dont know other people there, just she's the only Wicked make-up artist I know.

Oh, you can get a picture with Eden. Most of the people at the backdoor are not freaks. So dont think you'll be lumped up with them (as long as you dont start chatting with the crazies).

Well, back in June that guy told me he'd seen it 50 times. I can only guess how many times he's seen it now (he also bragged he'd seen it front row 20 time. What a jerk, he should let someone else win).

Let's see...I think I've seen it less than 20. Maybe around 15 times. Mind you I got comp tickets for doing some make-up work for Wicked. So I didnt always buy the tickets.

I wish all my willing models lived closer. You're all so far. I've got one that lives in Europe!! Why cant you all move to LA?

p.s. for the previous comment, it's not difficult to visualize Teal, Eden or Idina as Elphaba when you read Wicked. But for me, I just had a vague image in my head of what Elphie and Glinda looked like. They didnt quite look like the girls who play them, but they didnt quite look as crazy as the book portrays them (well Glinda doesnt get described crazy until the second book really).

Yay, 1 week till I get to see Wicked again! I'm totally going to
get pictures with the cast afterwards...that sucks that Eden will
remove her make-up before though, I'd love to have a picture
with her as Elphaba...oh well!
I was trying to order a Wicked poster, but I can't find big ones,
do they sell them only at the show? I've only found mini posters
on ebay...sigh...and I totally want one in my living room.
Oh, I DL the Japanese Wicked soundtrack...just for fun...it's horrible
but it makes me laugh...it hurts my head to have Defying Gravity
butchered so...so won't listen to that one!
My friend got the Wicked book for X-Mas, so I'm going to borrow it
from her to read after, since you still think I should read it.
Oh, and how do you get in the front row seats drawing...my friend and
I are going to try for that on the 7th.

michiruokami In reply to Countessgreenleaf [2008-12-31 21:41:44 +0000 UTC]

They sell really nice broadway style posters at the show. It's around 24"x14". Not huge, but still a really nice size to get the cast to sign it.

I bought the 5 year anniversary 2 disc Wicked soundtrack and they have the japanese cast and the german cast on the second disc. I can deal with the german, but the japanese makes me cringe. Stephanie J Block has a great song on there that was cut from the original show called 'Making Good', and Kerry Ellis has a nice pop version of 'I'm Not That Girl' on it too (I'd search for her 'Defying Gravity' pop remix, it's amazing).

Teal and Megan back in May did a special charity event after the show where they took pictures in costume and makeup. That was cool, but I missed it. I was there for the one they just did in December but they got out of costume and makeup and just met with people in their dressing rooms (all of it is considered over-time for the cast and they do it on the weekend which makes for a really long day for them, so you have to really appreciate all the extra the cast does for the community and fans).

Yeah, definately read it. And dont take anything in the book too heavily, just look for all the inspiration they took from the book. That's my favorite part of the book. And read the orignal Wizard of Oz too. That has nice background to Wicked as well.

I'm seeing it soon too...I'm so sad that it may be my last time!
That's ok, it's time to move onto other shows, like this Phantom of the Opera sequel I'm hearing about.

Oh, yeah I'm like you, listen to Wicked everday...or I used to. 9 to 5 has made a home in my cd player lately.

well i actually live in PA.. so it was the tour cast. Umm, Katie Rose Clarke was Glinda and Carmen Cusack was Elphaba. So I don't have any clue either..(staging in NY) lol.

In my opinion, I think it would be awesome if the origonal (sp?) cast came back for tour in 2013 I really want to see Idina preform... ^^' Her voice is so strong and you can tell she loves what she does.

Oh! I haven't even heard of those girls. Were they good?

I'd love to see Idina return to the role of Elphaba, but short of maybe the movie, I cant see it happening.
I think Megan Hilty going back to do Glinda is a first, but then the LA cast also got Carol Kane back. So, maybe they do come back once in awhile.
We can hope for Idina huh?

yes me too! Which movie; Enchanted?
Oh that's cool I didn't know people actually came back for musicals and stuff.. *ish neieve*
Yes, we can hope.

Eden is a little...unrefined when she sings Elphaba too, and I love her for it. I think though that Teal has the best control of any Elphaba I've ever heard, but I do like when they arent perfect. Makes the experience better I think.

No not Enchanted I mean Wicked the Movie. They are in talks about it, but I doubt it will happen for a long while.
I never knew people came back for musicals except for maybe a long awaited revival. But for a first and current run, I was not aware that they bounced back so much (because it seems like when you talk to the actors and actresses they make it very clear that they wouldnt go back for all the money in the world).

Eden Espinosa. Definately find clips of her if you can. I dont think recordings do her voice a lot of justice, she's amazing in person.

I'll check that website out. Mostly if I know about an actress it's because I've seen her preform.

Yes, they are considering a movie! Wicked was suppose to be a movie to begin with, but the right people got a hold of it and turned it into a musical.
I just hope they dont make it a movie soon, or it will lose sales at the ticket office, like Legally Blonde.

Are you a singer/dance/actor???? Because if you ever make it to Broadway, then I might be doing your makeup one day!

Awesome!! oh yes, I remember now the site said a bit about that.. Agreed..

Well, not really, I'm more of a swimmer, but since I saw wicked, now I want to get singing lessons and preform on broadway someday. I'm very interested in singing, I feel so alive when I sing.. lol it sounds silly i know... (oh btw i'm only 16...)
