Just the newest piece I'm working on. I tend to work in trends of what inspires me (as you may have noticed).
But there is one reason why I totally hate this picture. And that would be that I worked on it at only a 150dpi resolution!!! *cries* I cant believe I did that!! It wont ever print properly. ;-;
I might be able to bump it up to 300 and then start to really blend it and refine it from there, which I think I will do.
I'll let you know how it works out.
Once again, I tackled curls. What am I thinking? I doubt Glinda's curls will be any more refined that what you see here. I hate drawing curls. At least I can cheat with this black background again. XD

The beauty of Broadway photography.And for those of you who know Wicked really well (and I know some of you are going to do this!), no that is not Kristen Chenoweth as Glinda, that is Jennifer Laura Thompson. Shoot me, for it, if you must, but let me at least say that I couldnt find a good reference picture of Kristen and Idina together in this scene!
I think the green skin is going over pretty well this time. Although there are only creamy greens in this image. No yellows or browns or reds...or blues.

Micheal got most of the stuff you wanted on disc but when I looked at it I didn't see anything on Rent. You'll have to bring it up next time so I can hear it. If its got Idina Menzel singing in it I want to hear it, I don't care what her role is in it. Didn't you tell me that her husband is also in it? I'd like to hear his singing voice.

Oh, I like his voice. They both play important but non-leading roles. And since you know her voice, you wont judge her first vocal appearance, because I can tell you right now, it is WEIRD.
Also...we cant listen to the soundtrack with your children. Such words and topics should not be spoken or sung around them. Especially when they emphasis the bad words.

Realism is something I'm working on greatly. Unfortunately I can only do it if I have a reference, which I think is common for a lot of people (?).
If you look through my gallery, you'll see I did a lot of the 'popluar' stuff when I first joined, but I grew tired of drawing the same old generic crap (excuse me). And I'll be honest, that stuff would never have made it into my portfolio. But now that I've focused on realism, and real expressions of art, I find I'm happier with myself, even if I only get one piece out every other month.
I dont like to churn out art that doesnt have inspiration, or just because I want to please the masses.
I'd rather please the likes of you. You, at least, will truely appreicate my work.
And I'm really glad that you think it looks like them! I was really worried about making Idina's face look just like Idina. Since she's got such a distinct face.

Nope, it looks like Elphaba ^^ lol And yeah, I know what you mean about generic stuffs... I hate how people go crazy for my Inuyasha fanart and stuff but don't look at other stuff... then again, I'm guilty of it as well.. eheheh... only having to do with musicals o' course... I look at people's other art usually, though... I draw art just for the hell of it, not for arts sake, but for like "Ooo, lets draw Kagome and Inuyasha and..." or "Oh my god! I have to draw Harry Potter and Ginny kissing!" like... I'm a fanart fiend XD

Plus I noticed, that when I drew all that mainstream popular stuff, I never got a comment worth reading, because they were all the same: 'Wow!', 'That so cool', 'Amazing'. And that was boring. Now at least people say what they like about an image, or they mention that something needs a little fixing.
I'm a total fanartist too. I just draw specific kinds of fanart.
I can be guilty of looking at only things I have interest in. But if an artist is good, I'll look at all of their work.

It took me a long time to get to this point, where I can lay colors down with my tablet and be generally happy with it.
I feel you on the eyesight thing, though! I ripped my contacts, and have been having to use my glasses. They arent strong enough to make my vision clear at a distance, and they bother me when I'm looking up close, so I have to sort of sit back from the computer screen, but not too far. o_o It's nuts.
I'm sure you've got the patience for it. ^^ I think it's just knowing where to start and what to, and not to put down on the canvas.

And, Jennifer is tall for Glinda. Considering Kristen has to crane her head back to look at Idina, and here Idina is not quite eye level with JLT.

If you're worried you can always put it in your scraps. People dont see those unless they specifically look for them. Because they wont show up on your DA page.
