Hobbit would work as a 3 hours movie. Instead it takes 40 minutes to start in part 1.

Exactly, I never got how this was supposed to be a plot hole.
A Magic Space Wizard did it!

Well, if you're still using the EU, you could always cram the Death Star full of a whole lot of Ysalamir.

Really? You need to read Timothy Zahn's excellent Thrawn Trilogy, if you haven't already!
I was also kind of joking.
Ysalamir are creatures that can create a bubble in which the force does not exist. There's one scene in Heir to the Empire where Thrawn and Palleon confront the mad jedi clone Joruus C'Baoth (I probably spelled that wrong), and nullified his force lightning simply by having these creatures on their shoulders.

Haha, that's amazing. I actually rant about how great it would've been as just two movies every time it comes up. My family is probably pretty tired of it by now.

Lol! Right? Just no need for the third one. Luckily my family is down with the hate-train, so we all energetically jump in and rant together, it's quality family-time!

Ah yes, the deathstar Exhaust port.
I always feel like linking this video when it comes up:

To be fair about Nr. 2, it was desigend around that. Only reason it still worked was because it was still under construction.

Holy spaceballs! That's amazing, I've never seen that, thanks for sharing! Poor engineer, he probably didn't deserve all that choking. Glad to hear they were trying to account for it in the second one, good thing the rebels were a little quicker on the uptake, that time.

To be fair, the 2nd Death Star was actually desinged without that flaw. It was just not finishing, leaving that way to the reactor open.

I bet the engineers were super-psyched, too. All like, "No way that's happening again, let's see if we can get some doors that open a little faster, as well..."

Next he's going to adapt the SilmarillionΒ into nine movies.
I personally liked the Hobbits movies, but I agree with Jeremy Jahns and they should have made it into two movies instead of three.

Lolololol! Silmarillion might need nine movies... But yeah, parts of the Hobbit movies were great; I think two movies could have been really awesome, especially if they cut out all of Peter Jackson's fanfic stuff.

What fanfic stuff, you mean like the stuff with Kili and Tauriel? That honestly didn't bother me all too much.

MikeHowland In reply to LadviTheLad [2016-05-13 19:39:49 +0000 UTC]
Basically yeah, but also that Orc boss with the scar and so on. It's not all terrible, but if we're looking for stuff to cut, I think that should be first on the chopping block, as opposed to content that was actually written by Tolkien. But I read the book right before seeing the movies, so maybe I was particularly sensitive to the additions. I'll give it a re-watch at some point and see how I feel with a little distance. It's always nice to spend some time with Gandolf and friends! Also, I'm a sucker for giant spiders.
