Hola a todos de nuevo. Mi siguiente obra de Kalashnikovs Extranjeros no os mostrará familias de fusiles de asalto con carabinas, subfusiles y ametralladoras ligeras, como he estado haciendo en mis obras anteriores. Lo que hoy os mostraré son estos rifles de francotirador semiautomáticos iraquíes llamados Tabuk que, a diferencia del resto de versiones extranjeras que habéis estado viendo en mi galería, éstas armas se consideran actualmente una rareza de los fusiles Kalashnikov del mundo entero. Pero los rifles Tabuk derivan de los fusiles de asalto Zastava M70 yugoslavos (actualmente serbios) y, desde el año 1978 hasta hoy en día, son los fusiles de francotirador estándar de la policía de élite iraquí y algunas unidades militares del mismo país. Aunque también se han visto unos pocos rifles Tabuk utilizados por militares, milicianos, paramilitares, guerrilleros, insurgentes, terroristas, pandilleros y mafiosos tanto iraquíes como libaneses y jordanos. Así como también se han visto unos pocos rifles Tabuk utilizados por francotiradores de todos los bandos enfrentados en la Guerra Civil Siria. la historia sobre el origen de los rifles de francotirador Tabuk surgió de la siguiente manera: A principios de los años 70, cuando el gobierno iraquí de Sadam Huseín compró a la antigua Unión Soviética y a otros países comunistas las licencias y toda la maquinaria necesaria para fabricar los fusiles de asalto AK-47, AKM y demás armamento ruso-soviético en Irak, también compró a la antigua Yugoslavia los fusiles de asalto Zastava M70 y casi todos sus variantes para equipar con ellos a las fuerzas policiales iraquíes. Esto claramente se debía a que, aparentemente, los iraquíes eran conscientes de que los fusiles yugoslavos, a pesar de ser armas mucho más susceptibles a la corrosión y tener una vida útil mucho más corta que la de un fusil Kalashnikov soviético, eran armas ideales para los combates urbanos. Y así se creó el rifle de francotirador semiautomático Tabuk, un arma que es similar al Zastava M70 yugoslavo, pero con un cañón mucho más largo e incorpora en la boca de éste un apagallamas idéntico al del rifle de francotirador semiautomático Dragunov soviético. La culata de madera del rifle iraquí está "ahuecada", es decir, la pieza está diseñada y fabricada de tal forma que dicha culata forma una especie de "aro triangular" e incorpora en su parte superior un soporte de madera que permite al usuario apuntar el arma de una forma mucho más cómoda y eficaz, especialmente si el usuario está manejando el rifle en posición de "cuerpo a tierra". Tanto la culata como el guardamanos del rifle de francotirador Tabuk pueden estar hechos tanto de madera de teca como de la madera tradicional de los rifles Kalashnikov soviéticos. Y la mira telescópica del rifle Tabuk iraquí es idéntica a la del rifle de francotirador Dragunov soviético. La razón por la que los rifles de francotirador Tabuk iraquíes se consideran una rareza de los fusiles Kalashnikov del mundo entero es que por que dichas armas, a pesar de que sus disparos son tan precisos como los de un Dragunov, tienen un pobre alcance efectivo de 600 metros.
