This artwork depicts a weapon which is a part of my sci-fi world's lore. Do not copy the design, use it in your own artworks, or claim it as your own!

Lore and Description:
J8 "Salix" is a substantial redesign and upgrade of the J7 "Keshtan" series of SMGs. The gun now fires a new 6.4 × 28 mm cartridge - the most common variant of which features a hardened armor piercing penetrator. The weapon can be fired in a semi-auto or full-auto mode, while the rate of fire in the full auto mode exceeds 1000 rounds per minute. New modern technologies were integrated into the construction, such as a semi-active heat dissipator, which cools down the barrel and chamber after prolonged periods of firing, a new recoil buffer which helps to keep the felt recoil down, an ammo counter interface, which, when proprietary magazines and optics are used, can display the amount of remaining ammo in the shooter's field of view, and a set of powered accessory rails, meaning no mounted attachments require their own power source. All the active features are powered by a power cell inserted into the pistol grip. A redesigned retractable stock means the weapon is very compact when stowed away and it can be easily carried inside armored vehicles and aircraft. The entire top rail assembly can be removed and replaced with an advanced sighting module, which can be linked to a smart helmet and grant additional features to the shooter, such as target lead assist, meaning the weapon can be accurately fired even from the hip almost as easily as if the user was playing a video game.

Inspiration and Background Information:
This design is basically a complete redesign of my older J7 SMG concept. It was influenced by several sci-fi weapon designs, such as the TKI-20 "Shingen" from Cyberpunk 2077, and several weapon concepts from the (now cancelled) Project Breach. The "Iron sight with a laser dot" idea was taken from Killzone 4.
