This is NOT the official Power Rangers Zeo line-up. This is my own version of it. Please read the following journal if you are not familiar with my "ReImagining the Power Rangers" concept : [link]DO NOT use without my explicit permission first.
Season 4 : Zeo 1996
Victorious against Earth's Power Rangers, the Vile family could take control over the blue planet. Thanks to the Neko Alien Rangers. On top of that, the powerful Machine Empire decided to take control of this part of the galaxy. They started by taking care of their predecessors.

The Neko Rangers where not powerful enough to defeat the Machine Empire. They also had to go back to their home planet soon. Hopefully for Earth. Zordon finally had the solution to their problems. The Rangers had to find the fragments of the Zeo Cristal. Scattered through the world, this great power source was their only hope. Only five parts existed, so Billy and his girlfriend Trini stayed together for this quest.
After winning the trials they where facing, the Power Rangers showed they were worthy of the Zeo Crystal. They took it back to the Command Center and Zordon and Alpha Five made it whole again. They grew back to their legal age. Alpha was going to give new powers to the Rangers, but at this moment, Billy and Trini declared they no longer wanted to be Rangers anymore. Trini wanted to finish her schollarship before her wedding with Billy, while he thought he would be of more use if he stayed in the Command Center with Alpha. Jason too decided to give up his powers. He has been hired outside the country as Karate teacher and didn't want to miss the opportunity.

The Zeo Crystal was not powerful enough to sustain six Rangers. Billy and Trini where replaced, but not Jason. Tommy stayed the leader, and became the Red Zeo Ranger. TJ was recruited ans became the Black Zeo Ranger, Adam changed his color too and became the Green Zeo Ranger. Trini was replaced by Ashley who became the Yellow Zeo Ranger, and Finally Kat became the Pink Zeo Ranger.
When Kat became adult adult again, the Zeo Crystal did more than simply giving back her age. It also repaired her DNA (It had been tampered with by Rita). Kat was a Nekorian. Kidnapped by Rita when she was still a baby, she was transformed by the sorceress in an evil creature Now completely free of the spell, she still had a problem, she was Nekorian but wanted to continue to live as a human. Alpha and Billy created an holographic emitter. Taping it's power in the Morphing Grid he allowed Kat to look like a human when not Morphed.

When Trey of Triforia (Home planet of the Zeo Crystal) came on Earth injured, Billy decided to use his powers to help his friends. Trini and Alpha 5 helped Trey recover, and before going back home, he gave the Rangers a gift. He boosted the power of the Zeo Crystal and made it able to sustain one more Ranger. Billy kept a copy of Trey's powers and would thus be able to help his friend if they needed.

The powers of Trey and Billy are like those of Jayden / Takeru and Lauren / Kaoru? (Exactly the same in appearance and armament, but both can be used at the same time)

For the Trey/Billy situation: basically yes. That's how it works in this version. (Trey's version is black with gold armor though. In this version Billy stayed blue as long as he had powers that went through Zordon in some way or other).
For Tommy, I'm guessing you're asking about this?
If yes, then this team is just a 6 members team. They started with six members, they never had an additional ranger.

Oh ok. So let's see, if the official Super Megaforce or Gokaiger were to transform into my season 3 team. Tommy would be used by the sixth ranger, even if it's not a "sixth ranger". They'd just let him use the key when they want to have the whole team.

Honestly I think that TJ should have become the Green Ranger and Adam would continue to be the Black Ranger to keep things a little mare racially sensitive

the thing is, TJ's skin is brown, not black, so there's no problem in him being the black ranger.

I always wonder though... will it have something similar to the fanfilm/hoax Scorpion Rain explaining how the Zeo Rangers lost their powers? Because I know that since this is your version, there are many possibilities though I feel one idea is that the Zeo Crystal continued getting more powerful until it reached a point where it got too strong and it affected the Rangers. Eventually, the Zeo Crystal would overload in power and it would be destroyed causing the Rangers to lose their powers and their zords. And that would provide a perfect explanation of why the Rangers switched to their Turbo Powers. Though Billy being the Blue/Gold ranger is definite because I felt real bad for David Yost eventually leaving the series. Nice job here. Zeo's my second-favorite of the Zordon Era next to In Space and Mighty Morphin and you did it well.

Yeah, I wish people weren't so discriminating based on people's actions or mannerisms, David Yost was called a certain homophobic name one too many times and that's what caused him to leave the show.

Ok personaly i love this zeo a lot, but again i know y you changed the suit colors but really "Billy will always be blue as long as Zordon is providing the powers." i mean in this universe trey is still an alien right..so why would he be the gold ranger with blue as the base instead of black if Zordon never gave trey zeo powers? and speaking of which, Zordon (at least to me) never really provided anyone with powers as he himself never really made any ranger powers but found them.

That's not how it goes in my universe.
As for Billy, sure Trey provides the armour and the powers, but Zordon is the one providing the energy to sustain him on Earth, so on Billy the power is blue.

Love your idea with Kat. I can just imagine everyone's age gets restored, then they all look over at Kat and she suddenly has the cat ears and eyes and teeth. Though the swapping of the gold and blue ranger colors seems like an unnecessary cheat.

Billy's transformation is still called the Gold Ranger. He's blue simply because in the way I conceived my universe, Billy will always be blue as long as Zordon is providing the powers. Blue is Billy' true colour. So the base costume of the Gold Ranger is blue, yes, but he's still called the "Gold Zeo Ranger".

The whole time before Trey of Triforia reavealed himself I was hoping Billy was the gold ranger, and when they needed a replacement for Trey I hoped Billy would be it. Alas.
Don't get me wrong, I like Jason, but I like Billy best.

I changed the colors for Billy, because for me, Billy will always be the Blue Rangers, as long as Zordon is the one providing the powers.

Billy and Trini are the blue and yellow rangers from the original series. Billy is the nerdy boy who comes up with all kinds of inventions during the run of the series and Trini is the asian girl that is a dear friend of him.
In my universe I decided to expand their friendship into a romantic relationship because I felt the writers fell to do that. The rangers of this year are :
Red = Tommy Oliver (a ranger since season 1)
Black = T.J. (a new ranger for this season, normally appears in the following season in the original show)
Green = Adam Park (A ranger since season 2)
Yellow = Ashley Hammond (a new ranger for this season, normally appears in the following season in the original show)
Pink = Katherine Hillard (a ranger since season 3)
Gold (and blue) Billy Cranston (a ranger since season 1)
