Description R.P.G. (Ransack People's Gold) is the tale of four D&D/Star Wars/RPG players and their DM, who wishes he were a player. These intrepid players are, from left to right:
Kenneth, the over-achieving, yet under appreciated DM.
Adam, the guy who has a theater background but needs a girlfriend.
Barry, the munchkin power-gamer with a bad case of arrested development.
Josh, the straight-laced guy who just wants to play the game.
Kassi, Josh's homicidally-minded younger cousin, whom he regrets inviting.

I have no idea where I got the Disrobing Wand but I used it in another comic I did as an underclassman in college. Who can say what Barry wants with it but suffice to say it isn't good. Once I can work out more of the bugs in the huge multi-foldered images for this comic the less time it will take me to do them. This comic is what I had considered making 2 Dorms Down, a copy paste comic that was about the jokes, not so much the art. Think "Knights of the Dinner Table" but with better art.

What?! The Disrobing Wand does not exist?! My dreams are shattered!

Meanwhile, Kassi reminds me of a player in my rpg-group: she too looks like (and most of the time, she is) a sweet girl, but in the game...

This is where you become a pioneer and create new magic... so that your laboratory can later become a dungeon delve for a group of unlucky adventurers.

Some players you know are trouble from the moment you lay eyes on them. Others will catch you by surprise, even the quiet ones. Especially the quiet ones.

Bare Skin Rug in GURPS Illuminati University. Actual item from the book.

And here I thought that sort of thing would be relegated to Mongoose splat books.

They aren't. To be fair, Illuminati University is a comedy setting, so it makes some kind of warped sense.

I only once ever played GURPS and that was at a con. I would be sorely tempted to use it but the new Savage Worlds is so much easier to teach to new players and there are already fan made Dune and Fallout mods.

Amen to that. I use GURPS sparingly these days, because there's plenty of better systems.

You've gotta go with what works well for your game/group.

Amen to that. Fortunately, my group is happy to try new things.

My groups leave me with a lot of rpgs that I can't convince anybody to play.

That stinks.

Especially since the last group would have been better suited to play Feng Shui, Kobolds Ate My Baby, or Ninjaburger than Star Wars Saga Ed.

That's one thing i felt KotDT needed to make it a great comic. Well done if you can pull it off.

It did mean that if you read it you really liked the writing, since the art was so bad. My art is better, but since it is repetitive I've got to work and rework the writing to make sure its funny.

Oh i did enjoy the writing for Knights, but not that accessible to non-gamers i think. Very niche humor.

Yeah, you definitely had to be a gamer to get the vast majority of the writing. But if you did, there was some incredibly funny stuff, stuff that you probably saw at your own gaming table.

One of my personal favorites was the one where they declared black ops, no survivors in an international airport in Canada. Its the same horriffic level of lack of forethought I've seen so many times with my players.

Do people really suggest stuff like that?

mindflenzing In reply to jmsnooks [2009-10-04 04:26:41 +0000 UTC]

Not to me, fortunately. This was actually a take off of a joke I did in Fallas.

jmsnooks In reply to mindflenzing [2009-10-04 04:35:30 +0000 UTC]

Haha, well it would make sense in Fallas because you could actually SEE the effects of such a device, vs. just imagining them.

Actually it was an off panel joke and it was the big dumb male paladin who was the victim of the device.
