Description R.P.G. (Ransack People's Gold) is the tale of four D&D/Star Wars/RPG players and their DM, who wishes he were a player. These intrepid players are, from left to right:
Kenneth, the over-achieving, yet under appreciated DM.
Adam, the guy who has a theater background but needs a girlfriend.
Barry, the munchkin power-gamer with a bad case of arrested development.
Josh, the straight-laced guy who just wants to play the game.
Kassi, Josh's homicidally-minded younger cousin, whom he regrets inviting.

*EDIT* I know there is a new book out called Death Troopers but it did not exist when the campaign in question and the resulting strip were made years ago. So you can all put your hands down I already know that cannon has changed.

Can't sleep! Aaarrrgghh! How much you want to bet I've misspelled something here? This is based on my own experience. I did spend two weeks making zombie rules for Saga Ed and I think its posted up on both the WotC boards and the d20 Radio forums (in case you were wondering). My players knew my love for undead so well that they guessed it despite my setting the scenario up as droids having gone berserk and killed everybody (they must have assumed the HK droid was a male version of the Red Queen from the RE movie). How the heck did they guess it!

No, real shambling undead darkside taint animated zombies, not mere disease zombies.

Between the Sith and the Arkanian mad scientists some variety of other was going to show up in the EU eventually I suppose. I went virus zombie by created from an ancient Sith holocron. A holocron that the heroes twice failed to recapture from a rogue Jedi.

Well, I doubt he'd have ended it with a giant mutating RE style virus monster that they couldn't really kill cutting them off from the hanger bay while destroying the station.

yh, i agree there. specially as han and chewie were in it. thats the only objection i had with it, since everyone knows han and chewie couldnt have died since they appeared in the movies after that happened

True but Star Wars does have a tradition of saying that only a small handful of dynastic families matter in the greater scheme of things and they show up for any occurrence of note in history.

It sure is. It would have been nice if the prequels had added new characters instead of recycling everybody from the other films. But that was not the precedent Lucas wanted to set.

mmm, yeah. i like the way theyve been creating new characters for the series, and giving old ones their own style in the cartoony sort of way (i liked the way they did mas amedda)

Well, they were only available for a short time on the Star Wars website. The new Clone Wars stuff only has the last two episodes and I think Hulu does also.

did you prefer the 2D version, or the current one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mindflenzing In reply to Darth-Millenium [2010-03-02 17:16:59 +0000 UTC]

I honestly think they're apples and oranges. The 2D one was more kinetic and flashy. I loved the quirkyness of the designs and the action. The 3D one has this brilliant way of telling 2-3 episode stories in one episode while leaving breathing room to make all the characters feel human (something Lucas never had any skill at). I enjoy them both.

Darth-Millenium In reply to mindflenzing [2010-03-03 06:48:15 +0000 UTC]

mmm, you're right there. i can't honestly choose, but the 2D one made grievous awesome!

So everybody has started telling me this year. At the time I wrote the module and the comic the book didn't exist and both zombies and mummies were still considered the domain of modern, near modern, and fantasy genres.

there are zombies in star wars its in a book called death troopers

They didn't exist when I wrote the module and the comic. I put those zombies out on the WotC boards and the D20 boards over two years ago and back then nobody had heard of death troopers, though this year everybody seems to have.

shadowthewerewolf In reply to mindflenzing [2010-02-25 23:20:08 +0000 UTC]

ooh ok. i see now. you seem to keep it spot on to the book though even though it was 2 years ago

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mindflenzing In reply to shadowthewerewolf [2010-02-25 23:34:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, that one book ruins the entire bit about having a fantasy/modern monster in a sci-fi. Maybe now it's just mummies (as I imagine there are vampires already) that they don't have.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shadowthewerewolf In reply to mindflenzing [2010-02-25 23:52:12 +0000 UTC]

yeah. all i know is; is that the zombies came from some restricted area on a planet called dathimor. that planet had some sort of disease on some part of it. so the imperials must've traveled to that area by mistake. which starts the book

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mindflenzing In reply to shadowthewerewolf [2010-02-26 00:15:02 +0000 UTC]

Well, I guess I'll just have to wait for confirmation that the mummy has joined vampires, wolfmen, zombies, and the creature from the black lagoon in Star Wars. Why did the EU have to ruin a perfectly good gag (other than to jump on the bandwagon with Marvel Zombies).
