It definitely was not the easiest. It's the markings that throw me off in shading.

I know! But if you use the layer in multiply and use a shade of gray or blue and lower the opacity, it works perfectly on any color ^^ Ā (if that's what you mean)

I believe you're referring to cell shading, when you use a layer set on multiply. It's very useful and I should probably use it more as the basis for the shading, but when I try to do more realistic shading it's hard to account for all the other colors seen on a real animal when you are using just a multiply layer. Though it is a good starting layer, that I should be more inclined to work with.

Oh, hey, I didn't mean to come off as a conceited know it all. I was more reflecting on your comment as I've been trying to figure out how best to shade markings realistically and you made me think more about using cell shading again. If you understand how to cell shade, that's better than where I was when I started so you're definitely on the right track and sometimes even people with more experience still need some simple advice like you offered.
