Description
What a stone of a man.Rapidly sinking into murky depths--
Packed with sand
as he slept.
Gray eyes, gray hair, gray teeth.
and a dead-colorless-soul. Gray.
Around his neck hangs a wreath
of brittle bones and loss and decay.
Sinking. Sinking.
To become the skeletal frame
of a shipwreck.
That he has launched on land.
Sinking. A stone.
Heavy - a world apart
from a King on his Throne,
yet the same at heart.
He bands with all the strength of none.
HIstory couldn't measure battles he's won.
He marches with his gun, down. Sinking.
Into the water as gray as he.
Eternal eyes apart, he sees.
At last!
At his last
breath
to take
to die.

Its an interesting piece. Very eerie, the description takes you into the character's world
"Gray eyes, gray hair, gray teeth.
and a dead-colorless-soul. Gray." This is probably my favorite part, I can see him and the way that he is. If that makes any sense.
Well written.

Glad you liked it. Actually, I wrote a short story about a guy that was aging and had regrets for his sins. It starts, "If one word could describe a man, for Dan Grisholm, it would be gray....the color of his teeth from too many nights spent passed out without brushing, the color of worn-out mourning wear, hair, eyes, etc." Pretty much empty and not even realizing that he was that way. Thanks for comments!
